This hotel is situated close to the park, shopping and numerous cafes and restaurants. Also, The Hotel close to the train station and the lake. Ticket windows for lake cruises are within walking distance. Old Town is close by with many shopping venues.
The Hotel itself is modern, clean and has a very nice lounge and restaurant area. The service is outstanding. Will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I think the higher the better if you are looking for a view.

A two night stay at this hotel as part of an Avalon river cruise was a real disappointment. Avalon has booked The Palace Hotel in past years but as it was closed for renovation this hotel was substituted. The building felt like a former bank with narrow dark corridors and concrete walls. The rooms were stark, modern without warmth or comfort and that stainless steel phone booth for a closet! The odd murals painted on the ceilings were weird to say the least. The bar and restaurant required direct payment on each visit as both were outside sources. I would have preferred a hotel with similar Swiss ambiance and classic looks as The Palace and felt this boutique hotel left much to be desired. I wanted to feel I was in Switzerland, not New York which is where type of hotel might be located.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for having taken the time to evaluate your stay at THE HOTEL Lucerne, Autograph Collection.

It is with big regret to learn, that we did not meet your expectations in regards to the designe by French leading architect, Pritzker Prize winner and film lover Jean Nouvel. We do have a sister property next door, the Renaissance Lucerne Hotel, which is more classic in style. Gladly we would have offered an alternative solution. Therefore, we encourage to always addressing any issues immediately.

Once again, we thank you for your valued feedback. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we sincerely apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Lucerne soon, either to THE HOTEL Lucerne, Autograph Collection or if you like to try the Renaissance Lucerne Hotel.

Yours sincerely,

Lars Studer
Director of Operations

My husband and I used points to book a couple of nights at this hotel, and received a triple upgrade upon arrival to a penthouse with a wrap-around balcony. I can’t vouch for the regular rooms, but the penthouse was very spacious, comfortable, and had enough windows to let in natural light. We really enjoyed evenings on our balcony overlooking Lucerne. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was ideal - far enough away from the tourist crowds, but an easy 10 min or less walk to any areas of interest and the train station.

Used points to book this hotel for a vacation with my girlfriend. The staff were very accommodating and nice. The room itself was a bit small but very clean and had a great view.

The room was definitely well suited for a romantic getaway and not suitable for family.
Breakfast was also good but it would not have been worth paying for.

We loved this hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were great and our stay was fantastic. We will probably go back as we only had two nights.

The hotel is boutique and designed to be individual. So I'll laugh first about the only thing I didn't like. As Platinum Rewards customers we were blessed to be upgraded to the Penthouse Suite. A fantastic room with a wrap around balcony, bathroom up some stairs, small lounge with settee and a huge bed. It was smaller than many hotel suites but that's in keeping with the style and size of the hotel. So what's not to love? Well the designer chose scenes from his favourite films and in our room it was Dangerous Liaisons. So across the entire back wall behind the bed was a photograph of John Malkovich in bed with a lady (tastefully shot) I have always found him creepy but at least you could switch off the back light and with him behind the bed head, I didn't quite have to see him as I opened my eyes.

Seriously everything else was great. The two men who greeted us when we arrived were wonderful, holding umbrellas to the car, finding parking for us, carrying luggage, giving advice. Amazing service. 4 choices of welcome gift - as recommended we had Swiss cheese and wine which came with crackers and slices of apple. Complementary tea/ coffee/ water and apple in our room. Lovely toiletries.

Breakfast was a little different. As they are small, there is no buffet, instead it is served 'afternoon tea' style on a cake stand and then you choose eggs from the waitress. There was plenty, meat, cheese, salmon, fruit, a basket of bread and croissant. The waitress asked a couple of times if we would like more of anything but we were satisfied. Fruit juice and tea/ coffee also served. I really enjoyed it for a change. The waitress was enthusiastic and full of smiles.

I would love to go again if I'm travelling through Switzerland i'd stay longer.

Room Tip: We had top floor, there was another level below us also with balconies.
