Used points to book this hotel for a vacation with my girlfriend. The staff were very accommodating and nice. The room itself was a bit small but very clean and had a great view.

The room was definitely well suited for a romantic getaway and not suitable for family.
Breakfast was also good but it would not have been worth paying for.

We loved this hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff were great and our stay was fantastic. We will probably go back as we only had two nights.

The hotel is boutique and designed to be individual. So I'll laugh first about the only thing I didn't like. As Platinum Rewards customers we were blessed to be upgraded to the Penthouse Suite. A fantastic room with a wrap around balcony, bathroom up some stairs, small lounge with settee and a huge bed. It was smaller than many hotel suites but that's in keeping with the style and size of the hotel. So what's not to love? Well the designer chose scenes from his favourite films and in our room it was Dangerous Liaisons. So across the entire back wall behind the bed was a photograph of John Malkovich in bed with a lady (tastefully shot) I have always found him creepy but at least you could switch off the back light and with him behind the bed head, I didn't quite have to see him as I opened my eyes.

Seriously everything else was great. The two men who greeted us when we arrived were wonderful, holding umbrellas to the car, finding parking for us, carrying luggage, giving advice. Amazing service. 4 choices of welcome gift - as recommended we had Swiss cheese and wine which came with crackers and slices of apple. Complementary tea/ coffee/ water and apple in our room. Lovely toiletries.

Breakfast was a little different. As they are small, there is no buffet, instead it is served 'afternoon tea' style on a cake stand and then you choose eggs from the waitress. There was plenty, meat, cheese, salmon, fruit, a basket of bread and croissant. The waitress asked a couple of times if we would like more of anything but we were satisfied. Fruit juice and tea/ coffee also served. I really enjoyed it for a change. The waitress was enthusiastic and full of smiles.

I would love to go again if I'm travelling through Switzerland i'd stay longer.

Room Tip: We had top floor, there was another level below us also with balconies.

We walked from the station - only 6 minutes - and were immediately enchanted by the architectural intricacies of The Hotel. Our room was amazing, large and visually, a delight , especially if you love art and design.
All the staff were attentive and showed a high degree of expertise. Breakfasts were cooked to order and the quality of the food was excellent. On a number of occasions, we needed assistance with directions and recommendations for exploring Lucerne. The desk staff were friendly, helpful and patient. The little park diagonally opposite the hotel set a lovely scene and led to wonderful little streets and main boulevards full of shops and eateries and the walk to Lake Lucerne was only 7 minutes away. We would most certainly return to this hotel and recommend it to others.

The room was large, spacious, and comfortable. The bathroom was also very nice. Alessia at the front desk was friendly and helpful. Two thumbs up to her. While the property itself does not have fitness facilities, you are able to access those of a sister hotel, which is only a 2 minute walk away. My overall rating is a "very good" four out of five, but I will list some of the negatives I experienced as well for completeness. Other reviews have already discussed all the common criticisms, so I'll summarize them here.
-Rooms are quite dark with not so many lighting options. I was not personally bothered, but it is something I did notice.
-Strange art on ceilings with depictions of nudity.
-Hotel is not well marked from the outside, could be difficult to find at first.
-Only one elevator that works somewhat slowly.
-Breakfast is not very good - only worthwhile for those Marriott members with included breakfast.
-Cleaning staff entered in spite of "do not disturb"
As noted above, I was not profoundly bothered by the listed criticisms, and enjoyed my stay quite well overall.

Dear Guest,

We thank you very much for your review, with which you have evaluated your stay at THE HOTEL Lucerne, Autograph Collection.

We are delighted to read that you were especially satisfied by the provided staff service from Alessia at the front desk. We will share your valuable feedback with her and all our staff members as we strive to exceed all our guests’ expectations and to provide the best service possible. On the other hand, we regret for not having quite met your expectations in regards to the hotel’s unique design and the à la carte breakfast.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Lucerne soon, and would be more than happy to assist with a reservation, either for the more classic styled Renaissance Lucerne Hotel next door or THE HOTEL Lucerne, Autograph Collection, and assure to be on service with a brighter room.

Kind regards,

This boutique hotel (sister to the Renaissance hotel just 1 block away) is just 5 minutes walk from the Lucerne main train station passing a small park as well as other hotels, cafes, shops and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable except for the size of the beds. If you are tall like me then your feet are hanging over the end of the bed; which in turn does not give you a full restful night sleep.
This seems to be how beds are in a lot of hotels in Europe so it may not only be this hotel.
For a king size bed they join 2 twin size mattresses together, quite smaller than a king we are used to.
We were very happy that the AC in the room was quite cold. After experiencing hotels in Prague and Berlin where AC was advertised but was minimal it was truly a great experience to have the AC in this hotel especially since the temperature was above 80F both days we were there.
The staff is amazing. I was welcomed by Paul who explained about the city and where to visit. At breakfast the waitress did everything; even cook. Impressive and service was very nice.
The young lady that came to clean our room did not because I forgot to remove the do not disturb sign. She came a few minutes after we returned with fresh towels, extra coffee and offered to come back after we took our afternoon stroll.
I truly enjoyed the positive vibes of this hotel; the staff; the location and the unique architecture and decoration.
A bigger bed and it would get a 5...
