“Fabulous Palio package, fun ,fun ,fun!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 October 2004

Went to Siena this summer and booked the palio package this cozy little hotel had to offer. We saw it all and then some. Great guides were furnished throughout the the four days and the dinners before and after the Palio were great fun. The seats for the Palio were on the famous and dangerous curve of San Martino. What a view! If you do this, be prepared to withstand the crowds and the heat. This trip is not for the faint of heart. The days of the Palio are wild. It was the experience of a lifetime.
Everyone at the hotel was extremely pleasant and went out of their way to satisfy their guests. The rooms were small but cozy and pleasantly furnished. The breakfast provided each day was downstairs in a little cantina. Once again, very cozy, service was friendly with lots of choices to please anyone. I wouldn't hesitate to return to Villa Piccola Siena.

Although the room was small (a bunk bed w/ a double bed) for 4 adults that was not the problem. The problem came w/ the Palio tickets we purchased through this hotel. We were to have a balcony view of the Palio (which we did), but were not told that on the balcony there was only standing room. The problem w/ that was that standing meant just that...no room to turn...just stand for about 3 hours until the race. The balcony was 2 boards @ 2 by 6 onto which 40 people were stuffed. We were not told until we were actually on the balcony that if we left our spot 1 hour before the race that we would lose out spot.
We were to have access to light snacks (which we did) and beverages as part of the ticket price. The beverages ran out well before the race & were not replenished even when the management was told about the problem. I will add the leftover snacks were part of the breakfast offered the next morning. After sitting out most of the day none of my group was inclined to trust its safety.
But the worst part was that at the last minute the owner of the property on which the bar was located pushed onto the balcony w/ 3 friends. He proceeded to sexually assault one of our group. When the organizer from Villa Piccolo Siena was told of this he pretended not to understand and did nothing. Beware.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel last week, for a short holiday in Italy. I actually was in Siena for a conference, then we took some time for sightseeing, since we never arrived so south in Italy before. The hotel was fine, clean, very friendly staff and tidy rooms. We walked a bit to reach the centre, but the weather was already warm enough to enjoy taking a walk. We had a very good meal nearby Piazza de il Campo, based on game and pici pasta. Price was good, the receptionist helped us to find the restaurant and parking side was guarded. I would reccomend it for a short stay in this city.

My friends and I stayed for 2 miserable nights at this hotel. The website we used to book our stay indicated that we would be staying in a 2 bedroom apartment at an address in the city of Siena. Upon our arrival at the address, we were advised that, although our booking confirmation stated an apartment on the hotel premises, the apartment was actually located in the farmhouse about 5 miles outside of the city and would need a car. Since we did not have a car and chose not to rent one, we switched to a room at the hotel. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the hotel is at least 20 minutes by foot to the City Centre. The staff explained that there were 2 public buses we could take to the Centre, but told us to go outside (in the pouring rain) to obtain the time schedules -- they did not keep them on hand in the hotel and didn't see any reason why they should. The part of our stay that made us the most upset, however, was the breakfast. For both of our meals there, they served ham that had a very decidedly "off" odor -- there was no way that it could be considered fresh by any standard. The sliced cheese was hard and dry due to air exposure, and the sliced bread was also hard and stale. Both my friend and another guest tried the grapefurit juice, but couldn't swallow the first sip because it was rancid. These events caused us to decide to cut our 3 night stay in Siena to 2 -- it was worth paying all of the fees involved for cancelling our final night just to get out of there!!! DO NOT stay in the hotel unless you are willing to risk food poisoning!!!!!!!

Have been in Siena last September and had much fun here. This small but friendly hotel offered a variety of activities like never seen before!
It was my girlfriend and I, we went hot air ballooning, hiking and horseback riding. Plus the farmhouse was really charming, we stayed in the Pink apartment and loved it! I would suggest it for a great time in Tuscany. Jack
