I stayed at Palazzo Al Torrione during Festa Delle Messi 18-20/June 2016
I wouldn't qualify Palazzo Al Torrione a B&B but a very good hotel standards, its historic building inside the city walls so more central impossible, rooms are perfectly clean new bathrooms spacious showers and all amenities you find in any 4* hotel, buildings are newly restored and have wonderful views of the Tuscany hills it's vineyards as well views of the medieval city and historic famous towers. Vanna the owner is such a kind all positive woman she serves breakfast herself to guests offering different kinds of bread , her home made cake delicious coffee tea jam cheese etc she really makes you feel at home away from home! Beds are big and very comfortable.
MRS Vanna also attends her own very central tabacchi shop in the main road where you can buy any kind of souvenirs bus tickets tours and she is very helpful for any information about the town and sorroundings where to eat etc
I definitely recommend Palazzo Al Torrione for your next stay in the most beautiful Italian BORGO I QUALIFY IT from 1 to 5 absolutely 5 !!!
I'll go back next August 10th for the well known wine fest CALICI DI STELLE don't miss it !

Palazzo al Torrione and Palazzo al Torrione 2 are actually the same place. A small and friendly B&B, near the surrounding wall of San Gimignano's old city. The owner is extremely friendly. The breakfast is served in her little kitchen, just like in a traditional Tuscan home. You MUST ask for the tomato bruschetta.
Some of the rooms face the rooftops of San Gimignano, while the others face the view of the hills on the west. The best rooms are the two rooms with the small terrace facing the scenic view of the mountains and the sunset.

Room tip: The best rooms are the two rooms with the small terrace facing the scenic view of the mountains and the sunset.

I stayed here two years ago and knew I'd be returning this time so booked ahead (last time it was last minute).
They were very accommodating and helpful.
It's a little tricky meeting up with them because they run a tabbacheria nearby and you have to coordinate meeting with someone from there to get into the hotel. Depends on who you reach by phone --some speak English but others only a small amount. But once you get set up in the place it's fine.
Internet is so-so--in the breakfast area it works best but isn't particularly reliable. Good location, nice and quiet, nice bathroom, beautiful view of Chianti from the window.

Stayed for 3 nights Sept 2014 - have been to SG before and aware how busy it is during the day. We had a fab balcony in our room and found the staff very helpful. Would stay again.
The walk up from car park one takes about 10 mins and might be handier parking closer initially if you have a lot of bags
