We stayed here the end of May with our son and daughter and their partners and two granddaughters. Everyone was overwhelmed with the villa and also with Alexandra who as others have said is extremely helpful and very friendly. We loved the wonderful views and felt very privileged to stay in such a wonderful place. We would love to stay there again one day if our children are willing to put up with us!!
Couldn't have asked for a more breathtaking view of San Gimignano and its surrounding countryside. We were 4 couples travelling together and appreciated the fact that the villa had 4 bedrooms with ensuites. The living space was comfortable and the dining table accommodated us all. The kitchen was functional and having two refrigerators was a bonus.
Our host, Alessandro, was very helpful in getting us settled and providing valuable information about the town, restaurants and tours. He also contacted a couple of local ladies who catered a delicious meal for us at the villa. We had a few plumbing issues that were quickly resolved.
Although the villa is close to town, please note it is about a 20 minute walk on an incline. The path is not lit at night, so be sure you have a light of some sort.
We would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful experience at this exceptionally well located villa! Alessandro could not have been more kind & helpful throughout the whole process. We had a party of 6 & everyone enjoyed their stay here, especially the view from the back patio!! The walled medieval village of San Gimignano is in full view as are the gorgeous surrounding vineyards & rolling hills of Tuscany. If you have no issues with walking hills, the village is easily accessible. As the disgruntled guest who stayed here earlier this year stated, the road is dirt/gravel, but it’s the country for goodness sake! If you want city-like roads then you should stay inside a city rather than in the country & complaining on Trip Advisor after the fact for your error in judgment...
As for the beds, they, as well as all the home furnishings were exactly what you would expect in an Italian countryside home. In fact, the bathrooms were an upgrade from many European hotel bathrooms we’ve experienced over the years. The shower basin even had a high enough wall so it didn’t leak all over the floor every time you use it. Although we only used the kitchen for breakfast & preparing wine for consumption, Alessandro’s Aunt treated us to a 4-course homemade meal one night & she had no trouble at all cooking one of the best meals we had while in Italy. We also took advantage of the wine tour with lunch & tasting included that was very close to the village. Alessandro provides grapes to this vineyard so we received a 10% discount on purchases while there. Good deal for 18euro! We recommend this lovely villa highly & are very grateful to Alessandro for all his help & guidance while we were his guests.
My husband and I stayed in this villa for a week in September with 6 of our friends. The villa is beautiful and the owner (Alessandro) was very helpful during the booking process and during our stay. He even arranged for a lady to come cook us a full course dinner!! We loved the villa and its location. It is an uphill walk into San Gimignano on a gravel road but so what? Just take your time and enjoy the surroundings! It truly is breathtaking countryside. I just read a 2 star review of this property and I was shocked. In my opinion the reviewer had unrealistic expectations. This villa is perfect for those who want to "live like a local". Were the pillows a bit flat - perhaps - we just folded them in half and went to sleep. lol We cooked several meals during our week and had no problem with the kitchen, cooktop or the supplies provided. Hopefully we will have the good fortune to return to San Gimignano some day and, if we do, I hope we are lucky enough to get to stay in this villa! Thanks for the hospitality Alessandro!
Villa is in great location with walkable uphill climb into town. Road is gravelly/sandy with some rough spots. Can't imagine what road would be like after a rain. Some reviewers say 5-10 minute walk which is exaggerated. House is ideal for Europeans who wish to sit by the pool all day. But for Americans like us, house has important shortcomings. Beds are uncomfortable (we've rented all over Europe and these were among the worst). Pillows were thin rock-hard foam that should have been replaced years ago, unless you prefer waking with a stiff neck. And a sheet/wool blanket on each bed is from yesteryear. If you only use the house for breakfast, the kitchen, though very old, suffices. But if you prefer to cook or warm up stuff from the market, you're stuck with an old 5-burner cooktop with 2 burners hard to light. And there's no counter space.
In summary, the photos make the place look spectacular, but when you get close up, some of that fades away. At least it did for us.
