“great location”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

My wife and I stayed here overnight on our way back home after 3 months in Italy. Great price and located 10 minutes from train station. Also within walking distance of the Tower and other sights in Pisa. Near some good restaurants..a nice Indian one ..name escape me. A shuttle to the airport is offered but we left too early for it. A nice touch is a breakfast to go as again we were too early for the regular breakfast.

Room Tip: We booked a good rate using Booking.com

Dear Guest, thanks a lot for your nice feedback and for staying in our hotel. We are happy to see you had a good time with us. The Indian Restaurant you mentioned is probably the one at the end of via Mazzini and beginning of via D´Azeglio. Tuscany is surely not a famous place for Indian food, but this restaurant has very good value for money, very attentive service and a wide offer. Regarding the room reservation it might be worse to have a closer look to our own homepage, usually with better conditions as elsewhere :-) . Hope to welcome you soon again. Best regards. Luca Gherardi - Hotel Bologna.

Have just returned from a three night stay at the Hotel Bologna. All-in-all, very satisfied. The only negative comment we had was that the reception staff were somewhat underwhelming in their effusiveness - pleasant, but not overtly helpful. Otherwise, I would recommend the hotel. Good size room, tidy, clean, great shower. Breakfast in a very pleasant room - self-service buffet, typically Italian (in my experience) - fruit juices, good selection of cold meats, cheese, cereals, etc. Also, having returned from a trip to Rome last year, the hotel room rates were a welcome surprise (around Euro100 per night).

Nice hotel, good 3 star, room a little old fashion but there is a bed and a shower.
Amenities in bathroom ok, nothing great.
Free buffet with aperitif in the evening is great, Parma Ham and Salami, it was a nice
touch.
Breakfast is ok, busy tables are very close and lots of children very noisy!
Coffee was awful, selection of bread limited, service absent.
Staff at front-desk at check-in was very helpful but bar and breakfast staff not great,
do not talk... no guest contact.
So its a good place to spend one or two nights, good location but go for an aperitif
outside and go early for breakfast.
Schuttle to airport is a very good service.
I will go back there but just for one or two night.
Not as good as other hotels I visited in Italy this year.

Room Tip: check in before 7pm try to be in main building, otherwise they send you in the annexe:-(

Valued Guest, thanks a lot for your staying in our hotel and for posting your review here in Tripadvisor. We offer 3 types of different coffee´s (American, Expresso y Barley), and on request Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato or Ice-Coffee. Please feel free to ask our staff for anything you may need. Sorry for the kids... The annexe is not a shelter, but mainly well appreciated by some clients because it is facing the more quite side of our location, offering the same services and standards. I think it´s a question of personal preferences and priorities, but there is no objectively measurable difference in quality. We would be very happy to welcome you soon again and wish you a happy easter time. Best regards . Luca Gherardi

Well maybe I exaggerate but it was certainly not the size of room I expect from a four star establishment. On the plus side the hotel was well located particularly for the station and is about a 20 minute walk from the Leaning tower etc and the room was very reasonably priced.

The airconditioning appeared to only heat and not cool and I found from my other stays that this appears to be standard for Italy at this time of year. As the ambient temperature was abot 21 C I found it better to leave it switched off. I think there are fixed dates in Italy for turning on aircon and heating but if so it would be helpful to travellers if italian hotels pointed this out.

Water pressure in the showers was good and so were the amenities but they were all crammed into a tiny space. I note that other reviews are very favourable so I can only assume that it is just solo travellers who are treated in this fashion. I think the size of the room should be clearly pointed out so that the solo traveller knows whether to take the option of payng for sole use of a double.

Room Tip: Don't go for a single room if youn ae at all claustrophobic!

Valued guest, thanks a lot for staying in our hotel and for your feedback in this forum. We don´t have different treatments for solo traveller or family travellers, late arrivals or early arrivals. Every person is an important part of our business and earns the same attention, dedication and service we are able to offer. Of course, single rooms are smaller than double rooms, or doubles for single use. Personally, I feel well with this dimensions, but mainly for american traveller we recommend doubles for single use, as we understand that they are used to other measures. Air condition usually has winter and summer modus. Temperature can be controlled individually by remote control or asking our reception team (they also have remote access to your climatization). If there is anything we can do for you in future please don`t hesitate to contact us. Have a good time and best regards - Luca Gherardi

Really nice hotel only 10 mins walk from the tower. Rooms very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Car parking available (10 euros per night) and an excellent breakfast. They even put out a selection of local foods each evening for you to sample (for free)
