Owner description: The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

“A picture postcard visit!”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Had read about the legendary tower in childhood history books. Then to actually stand in front of the leaning tower was certainly thrilling. We had booked the entry into the tower in advance. They gave a small presentation about the tower before we took the 300 odd steps to the summit. and once on top the views of the city was worth the effort. Visit this place for its history and the legend. The tower could be reached either by a bus from Pisa centrale station or one can stroll through the narrow lanes of Pisa. After going around the buildings around the complex we relaxed a bit on grass lawn in front of the statue of 'Fallen angel'.

“Well Squinty !”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

Walked up the tower, 18 euro per person, but worth it, 236 steps to the top, great view. You also get a wee talk all about it from the guide.

“Beautiful, one not to be missed”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

My second visit to the famous tower, glad to see that all the tourist tat has now been moved outside the city wall, it did tend to devalue the experience. It was a beautiful day to visit, we parked on the motorhome camper park, advised not to stay on the adjacent coach / car park due to the amount of theft. One site in Italy that has to be on everyones bucket list

“Impressive”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

The tower is an impressive sight. The baptistery and the duomo surrounding it compliment the tower. The whole atmosphere in the area is one of excitement. Everyone photographing ' holding up the tower'. It doesn't take much time to walk around and see everything, unless you book to climb to the top (which we didn't do)
There are plenty of good restaurants serving all sorts of Tuscan food, pizzas and pasta in the main street just along from the tower. Lots of the inevitable tourist shops and stalls along the same street.
It's well worth seeing the historical buildings, but not a lot more to see in the town.

“Picture Perfect!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

Seeing the Leaning Tower was like looking at a picture perfect postcard. Purchased admission ticket in advance and liked the fact that we were given a specific time for entry. It is definitely worth the drive from Florence.
