This large old Italian house sits well above Fiesole in a quiet spot, providing a retreat from the bustle of Florence. Andrea greeted us warmly and was helpful and attentive throughout our stay. He advised us to take the train from Caldine (5 miles away) to Florence, rather than the bus from Fiesole, which proved to be a good tip as we were able to park in the station car park each day, much more convenient than the Fiesole car parks.

The B&B has only been open 3 years and has 3 double rooms with nice balconies. The immaculate bathrooms are newly fitted out, with good showers. As we walked into the house after a warm drive from Le Marche we appreciated the coolness of the old 13th century building and we also enjoyed the shaded garden.

Breakfast was very good with nice bread and excellent coffee. In the summer this can be taken on the covered terrace. In the evening we could walk down to a restaurant in the nearby little hamlet, which catered for locals as well as tourists and offered good food at more reasonable prices than many in this very touristy area. There are other dining options in the area including many in Fiesole.

After 3 nights we left hoping that this venture works out well for Andrea – he puts a lot of effort in and deserves success.

We booked Villa Palagio Vecchio for three nights, and extended the stay with 5 nights because it was such a fantastic place to stay. Francesca & Andrea and their cousin Indigo took such good care of everything that we could totally relax during these days.
First of all, the little castle is enchanting from the inside and outside, the rooms are big, clean and stay cool during the day. The balcony was perfect to sit in the sun and read a book. The bathroom was also big and clean, the halls have beautiful old paintings and antique furniture. It really made me feel like a little princess in a castle.
The breakfast was perfect, everything was prepared with care, fresh fruit (salads), all sorts of ham an cheese with home made bread from Andrea. You can choose to have breakfast in the dining room or at a big balcony.
The area is surrounded by typical Tuscany olive trees and a beautiful view.
The easiest way to travel is by car, although there is a bus station next to the entrance of the Villa. There is enough place to park you car.
The center of Fiesole is really worth visiting with it's medieval buildings, narrow streets and little shops with hand made art work. Nearby Villa Palagio are a few good restaurants, so you don't always have to go all the way to the center of Fiesole to have a good meal.
One thing that could make our stay more comfortable than it already was, is the use of internet.
Although Francesca and Andrea helped us really good to discover the area, and had great tips. Indigo showed us a beautiful walking route through the fields.
Yes, we would recommend this B&B to everybody!

Dear Suzanne B,
thank you so much again for being with us and for your review. We have recently opened, and we are happy to have tips from our customers, to improve, and in fact we are working for the Internet! But most of all we thank you because through your eyes we saw our area under a different profile, not only Florence, city of art, and ancient Fiesole, but also a different world that we are discovering: the walk in the fields that you did, we knew , is a stretch of a long journey that even goes from Bologna to Florence, between fields and woods, which passes right on the edge of our hill!
Meet new people, introduces us to new worlds!
Thanks again, Andrea and Francesca
(greetings from our cousin!)
