“What a view!!!!”

The highlight of this apartment is without doubt the view. It has a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the city, looking across the river at the Uffizi gallery and the Duomo which is a spectacular sight lit up at night. Sitting out here with a glass of wine at night listening to the sounds of the city below is something you have to experience to appreciate. The price you pay for this view and atmosphere is the climb up the 65 steps to the apartment, but it is stated clearly in the description that it is on the 3rd floor with no lift, so that's fair. The apartment comprises of a compact but functional bathroom, a large main room which has a comfortable double bed, a wardrobe and a few cupboards. There is a door to a spiral staircase off this room which brings you up to the rooftop terrace, this staircase area is quite narrow so if you're on the large side it could be an issue. There is a step up from the bed area to the kitchenette which is quite small and has a small table and two chairs and has a sink with a double hob beside it. This hob is very slow to heat up so self catering is really not an option unless you want to use the microwave oven provided. But really, why would you want to cook when there are so many restaurants with great local food on your doorstep. There were plenty of cups, plates, glasses etc. provided, but the absence of an electric kettle seemed strange. An ample supply of good quality towels was provided for use in the bathroom. Free wi-fi broadband was provided which was very useful. The location is perfect as it is off the tourist trail in a quiet residential area, but less than 5 minutes walk to the Ponte Vecchio bridge. It's about 20 minutes walk from the train station but I recommend taking a taxi on the day of your arrival as it's quite hard to find if you're not sure where you're going. A taxi cost us €10 and I consider it money well spent. Alessandra met us at the apartment and she is such a lovely person, she explained everything and provided us with maps and showed us the points of interest and gave us contact numbers in case we needed anything. This apartment provided us with the perfect base to explore the city and I highly recommend it for a couple.
