“Great Value for Money”
Reviewed 1 November 2010

A lovely place in a great location on the other side of the river in Florence. Close to local artisans and the nearby piazza is buzzing with locals 7 nights a week. The owner, Signora Pucci, was very welcoming and had breakfast prepared before i was out of bed each morning. I stayed for 7 nights and really enjoyed it. the price - 560 euro was a bargain for tourist-filled Florence in summer. The room was very large with a double bed, single bed, sofa, table and large bathroom. Plenty of space for my friend and i to spread out. Highly recommended

we were absolutely impressed with this B&B in florence ! In the oltrarno area (other side of the bridge) yet, 5 minutes walk from everything this place is a gem. The owner is so kind; you feel welcome the minute you walk in.
The rooms are spacious and extremely clean; it is quiet and beautiful. There is a huge indoor garden wher you can relax after a long day of walking all arounf florence. Breakfast is served in the kitchen...you almost feel at home! we just loved it !

Our favorite B&B in Firenze, close to Palazzo Pitti.
Simple but with style, great value for money. Like the older rooms better, especially the one on first floor - a bit noisy as on street side but it has a little sitting room. Love the breakfast in the garden. Great location for exploring the city - when you arrive by car try NOT to arrive Fri/Sat night, you might have trouble finding a parking space.

Casa Pucci is a nice place to stay- clean, quiet, nice rooms, and the breakfast was good. BUT you should not stay here when it is cold outside because due to some energy saving initiatives in Florence, they are required to keep the heat off for 6-8 hours a day (I assume they otherwise must pay a fine or a higher price for the energy). Since its a bit of a budget accommodation, they don't pay up for constant heat! It was literally freezing outside and I woke up in the middle of the night on the first night because it was so cold. I could deal with it because of the thick covers but my 2 year old was on her own in the spare bed. We had to bring her into the bed with us to be sure she was warm. We asked Signora Pucci to keep the heat on because I am up in the middle of the night with my newborn, and she said of course. But although it stayed on longer (and I assume it went on intermittently during the night), it was still pretty cold.

Another thing to note is that although Signora Pucci is always available (and is very nice and friendly), you have to go to the bottom of the staircase that leads to her private residence upstairs and call out "signora puuuucciiiii!" for her to come down (she does come down immediately and with a smile). It just gets old after a while and I felt kind of a bother to keep calling her downstairs when we needed something.

Other than these things, the place was nice, the rooms are very comfortable and have a lot of character, the bathrooms are very clean. The courtyard is ADORABLE and I wished it weren't so cold so we could eat at the outdoor table.

The breakfast was ample though you had to unplug the toaster to plug the microwave in. For the price, the overall value was very good. The location is also good- you are just down the street from Piazza Santo Spirito and you have an internet cafe, a market and numerous eateries on the very same street. From the train station Santa Maria Novella you can take the D line which has a stop not even half a block away from Casa Pucci (I think its the Santo Spirito stop, but ask the driver). It is within easy walking distance from the train station as well, but if you have heavy luggage I don't recommend trying, because there are a lot of rough cobblestones to navigate.

We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2008 and found it to be perfectly suited for our needs. Very clean and spacious room overlooking the central courtyard where breakfast is served every morning. Excellent bathroom facilities in each room, fresh towels and room serviced daily. Signora Pucci is very welcoming, leaves you to your own devices but happy to let you borrow things as needed, iron etc. Location is excellent on south side of Arno, no noise disturbance and walking distance from all major sights.
Worth considering and excellent value for money!
