“Great find in Florence”
Reviewed 30 June 2008

We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2008 and found it to be perfectly suited for our needs. Very clean and spacious room overlooking the central courtyard where breakfast is served every morning. Excellent bathroom facilities in each room, fresh towels and room serviced daily. Signora Pucci is very welcoming, leaves you to your own devices but happy to let you borrow things as needed, iron etc. Location is excellent on south side of Arno, no noise disturbance and walking distance from all major sights.
Worth considering and excellent value for money!

When we kept striking out on affordable hotels in Florence (all booked), we came across (on the web) a B&B just south of the river, Casa Pucci. A one-woman show, it is simple and homey, very comfortable and spacious. We felt like we were staying in our own Florence apartment -- our accommodations for 3 included not only our bedroom, but a huge bathroom and a separate sitting room. There was no A/C, but a good ceiling fan helped. And a ceiling mural and antiques helped give the bedroom Florentine charm. With a little help, the owner could make this place spectacular, but it appears she has a hard time keeping up with all the details. Still, she couldn't have been more gracious and helpful, despite her limited English. And for the price, it wasn't a bad choice at all.

Our welcome to Casa Pucci was strange in that there was no welcome. The entryway was dark and a bit confusing but don't let this put you off. Our room was beautifully decorated with antiques and the bathroom was huge. Everything was absolutely spotless, the bed very comfortable and the breakfasts absolutely divine. Quiet was highly encouraged. All of this was great except the strange feeling that our landlady/hostess was not into interacting with her guest AT ALL. I would say though that it was great value for the money. One tip though, you might want to consider taking a cab from the train station to Casa Pucci when you first arrive in Florence because while it isn't far from "the sights", it could be a bit intimidating to find at first. Once you make that first foray out you won't have any problem figuring out where you are relative to where you want to be.

Based on a review elsewhere on the Internet, we booked Casa Pucci for 5 nights. We couldn't believe how great the room was! As recommended by that review, we requested a room in the courtyard. The room was bright, immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and very spacious. The bathroom was fabulous too. This was the nicest place we stayed during our 4 weeks in Italy and amazingly it was only 80 euro, which was an absolute bargain for Florence!
Signora Pucci was very kind and very respectful of our privacy.
The location was great too - near Ponte Vecchio .
The only criticism we had was that the breakfast was very simple (croissant, white bread rolls, coffee and juice) and didn't change at all over the 5 days. We found ourselves supplementing it from the nearby mini market.
I absolutely recommend this B&B!
