My wife and I stayed for one July week in this wonderful apartment in the heart of Florence. Atop a palazzo, only a few metres from the Ponte Vecchio, with the bars, restaurants, and shops of the Oltrarno on either side, it is simply the perfect place for a relaxing stay. Yes, relaxing. You're in the middle of it all, but when you've climbed those steps (broad and with an easy tread) up to the top, then you're in for a treat. It's quiet. You have a view over rooftops to the Pitti Palace. Though officially there's only one bedroom, it has an en-suite, and the top floor is yours to saunter around. The terrace is the high-point of course (south-facing, open to the sun all day long, and with an interesting device to water its plants automatically) but the other rooms are airy and spacious (there is air conditioning in the sitting room), their furniture is attractive, there is a TV, and - Wifi! .
The owner, Lucia, is a delight and so helpful. As we were obliged to arrive at Pisa rather than Florence itself, Lucia immediately sorted us out with train- and bus-times (it took only an hour and was an easy trip). We did have a little trouble in the booking, because my PayPal payment crashed half-way through, which was the fault of PayPal not the apartment! The manager, Vanni, is friendly and efficient. (Note, that last arrival time is supposed to be 6pm, or 7 at a pinch. Later than that, and you might have to arrive next day). They're a good team, and it's a great place.
I thought twice about writing this review. It might mean it gets more difficult for us to book it next year, because next year we will definitely be going back, and for longer!
