This hotel is off of a side street, so most of the time it was very quiet. It was very easy to walk to all the sites in Florence. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is normally set up at 7:30. When we told the owner we would be leaving at 7 on our check out day, he had breakfast ready at 6:30. The owner drove us to the airport since the hotel now provides car tours and shuttles. We appreciated having the lap top computer, wifi, and a tv with English speaking channels and movies in our room. The wood shutters over the windows made the room dark and easy to sleep in. One Friday night a bar had loud music in the street but it stopped at 10. There were books to read by chairs and couches in halls.

Room Tip: Our room 303 was quiet. It was away from the elevator and up only one flight of stairs from the lobby.

An excellent family run hotel, well situated with large airy well kept bedrooms, which are well sound proofed and have good shutters to block the sunlight for sleeping.

The family operates a "happy hour" each night with complimentary nibbles and Prosecco. The lights go down and music is played, great fun.

The emphasis is on being just a little different and a little funky (in a good way), this is achieved without a problem.

Centrally located, although the entrance is only a single door you might initially miss. The three generations of the family look after you very well and we would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Florence in the "mid range" hotel band - in fact anyone travelling to Florence, why pay more?

Looked after our car and this was brought back at our request and sorted out the extra charge required by the city for travelling into the centre. Streets are tiny in the very centre with many one way streets and pedestrians/scooters/bicycles, OK but just take it slow. If you do have a car, it's definitely worth contacting the hotel first for directions as you have to go through a restricted zone - which you might not realise is ok to do.

It's also worth noting that our sat nav system did get a little confused both on the way in and out of the centre of Florence, as the one-way systems do tend to change (at whim seemingly) so you have to follow your nose a bit - it's worth looking at the map on the screen, to see where you are ultimately headed!

My bride of 30 years and I took a vacation to Italy and celebrated our anniversary at the Hotel Davanzati in Florence - it did not disappoint! All of the reviews are true!
I started planning this trip 10 months in advance and booked this hotel about 7-8 months in advance. The hotel could not have been more helpful and accommodating in preparing for our trip, helping us book reservations, recommending restaurants and so forth. The rooms are great! The breakfast is excellent! The service is phenomenal (and I worked for 5 star hotels for years). I only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel has a fantastic location in the old part of the city.
When my wife and I got back from the trip we talked about which hotel and which city was our favorite of the vacation (kind of like asking what's your favorite color) - but in this case, Florence and the Hotel Davanzati were absolutely our favorite city and hotel.
Fabrizio was a veritable fount of information - consistently helpful with a desire to make every question easily solved. His son Tommaso was supremely helpful with our emailed questions and museum reservations. As the website says Marcello, the patriarch was the most charming.
We would recommend to anyone and we will be back!

This hotel is owned and run by a family. These guys were SUPERB in their service and attention to each client. It is as if each person is a VIP here, they remember everyone's names. The hotel is very centrally located and we loved popping out and being right in the mix of things. They also were very helpful in setting up tours and restaurant reservations. The nightly happy hour is also a really nice touch and a fun way to meet other guests.

I booked this hotel based on all the wonderful and positive reviews on tripadvisor and they were right. A lovely family run hotel with considerate and genuine staff. Our room was spacious and clean. And the location very convenient to all the main attractions on a side street that was quieter then the main roads.

If you are going to Florence this is the only place to stay.
