“An Unforgettable Stay At Antica Torre....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

It’s hard to know where to start.... I booked the apartments at Antica Torre with a group of friends. (Great for family's traveling with children) Accommodations worked out perfectly for my group of 8. (large and beautiful bed room & living room with a view of the river) The staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience and stay was the best it could be. They treated me and my friends with the utmost professionalism making us feel like we were staying at a 5 star hotel. It is service like this that will keep us coming back to the Antica Torre again and again.
I also hosted my a birthday party for my partner on the roof-top terrace with a magnificent view of Duomo. It's a must see!
I can honestly say that this was one of the best parties I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed the memorable evening and had a wonderful time. Thanks to the General manager and staff that helped make this possible from the U.S.A. .
Best....

My daughter and I stayed at this lovely hotel recently. It is a true gem of a property! The rooms are very nice and the views from the two terraces are incredible! The front desk staff was very helpful with suggestions about dining, and the staff in the terrace bar were exceptionally warm and friendly. Though my daughter has been to Florence on several occasions, this was by far her favorite visit; there is no doubt our experience at this hotel is the reason!

Hard to believe there are better places to stay in Florence, as the Antica Torre delights from every angle. We booked two rooms for 3 nights, and each was distinctive -- one with dramatic steps up to a window overlooking the Arno, the other with a sitting room and a jacuzzi tub. The staff is especially warm and helpful, making restaurant recommendations and reservations, and keeping the rooms spotless.

With the morning breakfast on the rooftop deck overlooking the city, to the drinks watching the sun set over the Arno, this hotel was the finest we stayed at in our 4 city tour in Italia.

We have stayed at the Antica Torre several times over the past few years and have always found the accommodations and service to be stellar. We especially love the rooftop terrace, but that is not the subject of this review. This week I needed to send some flowers from the States to a birthday boy staying at an apartment elsewhere in Florence. At a loss for how to accomplish this on very short notice, I called the Antica Torre. They could not have been more helpful. They arranged with the florist, figured out where the apartment was located, and had a gorgeous bouquet sent in time for the celebration. There was nothing to be gained for them but good will and they certainly have my grateful thanks. Anyone else I know traveling to Florence will hear my unqualified recommendation. The Antica Torre has definitely secured all my future business with this over the top kindness.

The rooms are wonderful - we booked the modern romance, with views over the Arno, and a huge tub, then moved to a smaller room with the same amazing view across the hall. The staff seems quite well versed in English, as we were the only Italian speaking guests I encountered in our stay here, and they are friendly and very helpful. The terraces are both incredible, and the view is worth the price of the room alone. The location is wonderful, as I tend to spend more time across the Arno, and the location allows you to be almost anywhere in Firenze in minutes. You truly get what you pay for, and our stay here was really fantastic. It's a gem of a hotel and I'm so happy we found it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
We personally enjoy welcoming our guests, we wish to reinvent the concept of hospitality, and we have the inspiration to provide the warmth of home in every detail. This is how the Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1, Florence came to be: a tower-house built in the mid-12th century by the Guelph family of Ruggerini. At the beginning of the 20th century, this palace became "Pensione Piccioli," and quickly turned into a privileged residence for aristocrats and English writers. Closed after the Great War, Pensione Piccioli reopened in 2001, as a Period Residence called "Antica Torre di Via Tornabuoni 1." Thanks to attentive restoration to preserve all its original charm, the evocative ambiance of the Palace on Via Tornabuoni has regained life and warmth. This magnificent complex is considered one of the typical "tower-houses" of Mediaeval Florence, and, to this day, it still preserves all its characteristic architectural elements: it is an admirable example of the human ability to convert buildings built for war into oases of peace, culture and hospitality. In this ancient tower, we have created a world of harmony, privacy, and attentiveness to our guests' needs. Luxury, peace, and beauty are all in traditional Italian style, and give the concept of comfort new aesthetics. Almost all rooms enjoy an enchanting view of the city or the Arno River, and all are furnished with the highest in comfort: satellite plasma TVs, DVD players, wireless internet connection, direct line telephone, minibar, electronic safe, air conditioning and heating, private marble bath with tub and/or shower, hair dryer, slippers and shoehorns, and Dr Vranjes scented essences. Some of the Rooms and Suites are decorated with a Renaissance flair: with frescoes, drapes in coloured precious fabrics, bathrooms in red Alcantara or Gold Calacatta marble, and romantic four poster beds. ... more   less
