My artist-art-teacher husband loved this smallish house museum. It's an out-of-the-way place belonging, at one time, to THE Michelangelo’s great nephew. It's filled with Michelangelo's studies and works that had moldered in a closet for over a hundred years, which his nephew collected and lovingly arranged in his home.

Uncrowded, quiet, inexpensive, very low-key, it's an excellent place to go when you've had quite enough of the slick, top tourist sites AND the thousands of tourists in them (!) in Florence. (No cafe on site.)

If you are a Michelangelo fan then this is a must to visit. It is a small museum but they are a number of interesting pieces on display. The bronze model of the Pieta Bandini is definitely worth seeing. There are 2 sculptures of Michelangelo as a boy working on pieces. There are also 2 of Michelangelo’s sculptures, reliefs, on display too. Of interest are some of Michelangeloks sketches.

I really enjoyed my visit to this place! A humble house with much history. Very well designed with many interesting items on display: some Michelangelo works, but mostly art collected by the Michelangelo family over the years, and also many interesting displays and memorabilia telling the stories of the master and his works. I found it simply inspiring to be in this house. It's close to Santa Croce and after visiting this house I walked down the street to the church where Michelangelo is buried. A wonderful monument to the master. It made for an unforgettable afternoon in Florence!

Casa Buonarroti is not the most important museum to visit in Florence but it's a must for Michelangelo enthusiasts. You will see his first two sculptures; "The Virgin of the Stairs," and "The Battle of the Centaurs." Look closely at them as you can if my film: "Casa Buonorotti - Michelangelo's House," on my YouTube channel: Art and Travel by Dave. You can see closeups and also what else the museum has to offer.

This was temporarily his home whilst amongst other things he organised the city defences .There is nothing outstanding that sticks in the memory but it made an interesting contrast to the other better known attractions nearby & I did learn quite a bit about Michaelangelo I didn't know before. Possible not one for children/ teenagers
