My wife and I are just in our 60s so we are still fit and able to walk around fiorenza. I would not recommend the walk up the steep hill if you are not in good health (take a bus or taxi).
We enjoyed the walk up from the river, well signed posted and some lovely old cobbled stoned streets.
You pass through a archway and walled part of the city.
We were lucky with the weather to view the fantastic panorama of the city. At mid day you can hear all the church and cathedral bells tolling.
The statue of David is bronze and as expected a lovely sculpture.
At the top of the plaza are a few restaurant s and artists and other tourist stalls.
The views over the city are definitely worth the climb.
