For a small hotel I would give this a five star rate for its cleanliness, service, food and location. They have a good Internet connection also for free. A prefect choice to stay in Florence.

This hotel provided the best price in balance with location for a five day trip to Florence in Mid April 2012. The Hotel is officially 3 stars but the level of service from the staff is far in excess of that. Location is perfect for all the major sites within the city being no more than 30 minutes walk from most of the sites you would wish to see and about 20 minutes ( carrying cases) from the main railway station. You are also slightly of he beaten tourist track and close to some really excellent local restaurants - (see below for Restaurant List ).
Cleanliness - The room was spotlessly clean as were the dining room and reception and very well with elegant understated decoration. Fresh and soft bed sheets and towels every day add to the pampering you deserve on a well earned break such as this. The rooms have a TV with a good variety international channels should you wish to keep up to date with the world outside.
The rooms are small, but this is reflected in the price. The bathrooms again are spotless and come with a hairdryer. The shower is reasonably sized but the water is good and hot and the mixer tap is easy to get the right temperature for you. The ventilation in the bathroom is good, meaning that you don't have to wait for the mirror to demist. The beds are firm and comfortable and plenty of pillows are available.
Breakfast is a good buffet selection of cereals, meats and pastries with a choice of teas or coffee some newspapers are available for guests to browse. The small size of the hotel means you are not competing with large groups of people and therefore the atmosphere is nice and sedate for morning. Service does come with a smile and there is no pressure for you to vacate your table once you have eaten.
WiFi- This is available free, just ask at the desk and you will be given a piece of paper with your username and password. Be sure to activate it on your computer within 12 hours and you will get 72 hours usage. Range is meant to be just for the public rooms, but we managed to get a good signal on an ipad in our 1st floor room. Should you wish to check-in to your return flight electronically, the hotel do not have a printer attached to the WiFi, but if you email your comfirmation as an attached document to the hotel they will print it for you and with a smile.

Service - The staff are really outstanding in their delivery of service, every body from chamber-maids to Reception staff always have a genuine smile and greeting for you. Nothing is too much trouble, you are really made to feel that you are a pleasure in their day. Umbrella's are available for you to use when out and about ( it did rain a lot) . They will keep your cases for you should you wish to take a final stroll around before going for your flight. The reception staff's English is perfect and they have a number of other languages.

What's missing - Not a lot; the restaurant functions for breakfast but didn't seem to at other times, perhaps it was too early in the season. The ability to get a coffee without going out would have been useful .

Restaurants nearby: ( Reviewed seperately) Osteria Pepo,La Bruscarra,Gelataria In the square, Bar Za Za,Cafe, Il Sole.

The hotel Botticelli is a modest little hotel in a great queit location for exploring Florence on foot. All the major sights are within comfortable walking distance.

Reception staff and breakfast room staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English fluently.

Our standard room was small but adequate, with comfortable (firm) beds and was very clean. Showeroom/wc was tiny but worked. There was adequate wardrobe storage for a short stay and a table with tv and fridge minibar. The only real downside was very noisy plumbing, which meant noise disturbance from neighbouring rooms - our bedhead wall was directly adjacent to the bathroom of another room and one morning we were woken at 6.00am for over an hour by guests next door repeatedly using their bathroom in preparation for an early check out! Not their fault of course. Also on the second floor was a very nice little open terrace overlooking the street and square beyond - a pleasant refuge with a drink after a hard days sightseeing.

The continental breakfast was more than adequate, with a good selection of cereals, breads, meats etc., fruit juice and excellent coffee.

Getting there: we flew to Florence airport, which is much more convenient than Pisa airport. It is only a few miles to the city centre and taxis are very expensive for the distance involved (c25Euros). However, there is a frequent (every 30 min) express public bus shuttle from the airport to the main railway station, which costs only 5Euros each. We used this both ways. With a map, the walk from the Station to Hotel Botticelli is straightforward and comfortably achieved in less than ten minutes.
Other tips: Online advanced booking for Uffizzi gallery worked smoothly to avoid the big queues. Florence is expensive. If you want to avoid paying up to 4Euros for a small soft drink or beer in a cafe, try the 99cent shops. There are several of these scattered around the old town.
Excursions: we enjoyed a day trip to Lucca (Puccini's birthplace); took about 75 minutes by stopping train from Florence (frequent trains) at a fare of only 12Euros return.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is within walking distance to anywhere you need to go. The staff are very helpful and will advise on sightseeing trips. Room clean and comfortable. Breakfast plentiful. Plenty of excellent restaurants nearbye.

Room Tip: We were at the top, room not large but quiet with roof top view
