After bouncing around Europe for two months - from France, the Ukraine and Turkey - this was the hotel my girlfriend and I enjoyed the least.
The room we had was lovely. Clean, great view. The breakfast was good as well and it was a fine location. The problem was the service.
Upon arrival the staff at reception were simply a bit rude and it felt like they didn't want us there. It was an unwelcome welcome.
No directions about the best way to get to our room, no information about hotel services, or help directing us around the city. We had to ask about everything and answers were short, curt and unfulfilling.
I wish I could say it was one staff member only and we were unlucky, but we had the same experience everytine we dealt with "reception".
On the plus, the general cleaning and wait staff were lovely. Just not the guys at the desk.
If I go back to Florence I will find a different hotel to stay in.

Just arrived home from another wonderful eight days at the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo. As usual everything about this hotel was perfect. The staff is terrific and extremely helpful. Our room was clean and spacious as the housekeeping staff is very attentive. The breakfast was varied and delicious. It is in a great location with just a short walk into town. This could be my home away from home!! Thank you Mediterraneo.

Thıs hotel is obvıously on the student hotel list as they arrived ın bus loads not noisy but certainly lots of them.

Basic breakfast but have to pay for fresh juice rather than squash.

Ok for weekend away but takes 20 mıns to walk from Duomo to hotel so taxi ıs better but quite a pleasent walk along the river but donw do it late at night.

The smallest shower cubicle ın the world in the smallest bathroom in the world ı think it used to be the wardrobe that they have converted into an ensuite.

Happy friendly staff, not very good WIFI in the rooms as well.

Room Tip: All rooms the same so not any choice.

Good service, clean rooms, comfy beds. It was a 20 minute lovely walk to the main squares. The food was ok in the restaurant for a buffee at dinner and breakfast (part of the tour). I was happy to stay here as I did not know if advance the hotels when I booked the tour through Air Canada vacations, 5 days of Italy will overnight in Florence and Venice.

I probably would not have stayed here on my own, it's not my kind of place, but it was nice and I didn't notice any mold at all. Bed was firm and comfy, room was quiet and clean, bath very clean and the bidet was quite convenient. Lots of space, for a European hotel.
Wake-up calls were prompt and front desk lent me a charger when the ones I brought with me would not fit the recessed outlet. They also patiently helped me figure out how to lock the room safe.
The restaurant food and coffee could have been better - since I was on a tour, it was more convenient to eat breakfast in the hotel, and breakfast was adequate but not inspiring. House Chianti from the bar was only 4 euros, not bad.
It was very crowded with Asian tourists, true, but that didn't bother me a lot.
Main drawback was location - it's quite a hike to the center of town or to Oltrarno. On the other hand, it's quite convenient to the Piazzale Michelangelo and the San Miniato church across the Arno, and the Outside restaurant next door had lovely pizza and good wine.
