“Italian fawlty towers.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2012

Myself and 14 year old son stayed here for a few days, as Florence was somewhere I always wanted to come, and ideal for a history hungry teenager who's appetite for Florence was awakened by an Xbox game called assasins creed.
We arrived late ish , about 12 am. The room was stiflingly hot, but we were told no air con until April 15th, so Windows were flung open all night.ALso, we had to request a kettle and coffee every night. They took them away everyday and didn't replace them. After asking for the hot drink equipment, it would take on average an hour and a half to arrive.
Breakfasts were fine, and the room clean and comfortable.
The,location of the hotel was, very convenient, and only about a mile from the Duomo.
I had made a booking with British airways for flight and hotel together, however on check out, I was still presented for a bill for nearly 400 euro.WHen I refused to pay the bed and breakfast charges and presented the receptionist with my pre paid voucher, he asked me how they were going to be paid, as British airways had not paid them?
I told him that on no account was I going to be paying twice, and that the hotel should contact them.A shame it had to end our otherwise great trip like this, with such a bad mistake.
Florence is such a beautiful city. Go.

I can think of nothing at all to say against this hotel. the room was lovely, so was the breakfast. The receptionists are helpful, as are all the staff. Also it is in a really good location, minutes away from the river, and 15-20 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and the Duomo.
Definitely recommended!

The Grand Hotel Adriatico in Florence was established in the late 50's as a good 4 star hotel and it has kept those standards since than.
The location is about 5 minutes from S. Maria Novella rail station and 10 minutes from the centre.
There are many hotels around this area of the same grade but none of them are as confortable, clean ,professional and above all good value for money as the Grand Hotel Adriatico.
I have to say BEST WESTERN have done an excellent job with some of their hotels in Florence much better than some of their hotels in the UK.

Room Tip: Ask for any rooms with a view of the Duomo and not the of the street at the Entrance of the Hotel

Moved from a different hotel across the street that didn't meet our expectations.

This actually felt like a hotel from the minute we walked in - very nice entrance with a good size lobby and sitting area - WIFI for a fee. Very accommodating reception and promptly received a room for 3 which was big and comfortable. AC was working just fine (as opposed to the other hotel), breakfast had a good variety and parking was at the back door (and not across the street). Centrally located so walking distance from most attractions.

Do take note that at night the street below has become a hanging place for drunken locals so coming back in the late hours means you need to walk passed large loud drunk groups of people..seemed pretty harmless-just a shame that it's next to the hotel entrance.

Reception very helpful with maps and recommendations.

Very good hotel for it's price - Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Very cclean, with nice and spacious lounge. Nice room. Only gripe is that there is now a charge for the parking on site, which used to be included in the price and that the street where the hotel is situated, became seedy.
