Description: "La Cucina del Garga" arrived on the Florence restaurant scene when Chef Alessandro Gargani returned from an 8 year run as Executive Chef in New York City's famous "Mezzogiorno Restaurant" in SOHO. It is there that he practiced his craft, honed his recipes and started his family. From an early age, his parents Sharon Oddson and Giuliano Gargani AKA "Il Garga" had instilled in him their passion for food and art. In 2010, he returned to his hometown to continue the family tradition born at The Trattoria in Via del Moro and then brought here to Via San Zanobi. The restaurant is an art gallery as well as showcase where talented local artists have the opportunity to show their work and customers can purchase paintings or sculptures to enrich their own private collections.

This place is a must go in Florence. Both the food and service were out of this world amazing! We started off the meal with a complimentary glass of champagne and polenta appetizer (the bomb.com). Florence is known for their red wine so I would suggest a Chianti to go with your meal (we had both a red and white).

For our main course, I had the homemade pasta with grandmas recipe for meat sauce, my aunt had chicken with pasta and avocado, and my mother/cousin both had their Alfredo sauce pasta. The Alfredo was an interesting blending interesting flavors of mint, orange zest, and cheese for pure bliss. We ended the meal with the absolute best cheesecake that I have ever had in my life.

I highly recommend this place and am planning on going back next time I am in Florence!

Not the easiest place to find but well worth searching out. Some interesting decoration inside and a bit different in that encouraged to draw on the table clothes. Although this just highlighted how bad my art is.

Food was very good and reasonable. Meat pasta was very nice and as in all the reviews the cheesecake is very good. Would recommend trying.

The only difficult thing about this place was finding it, we were attended to immediately and shown a set in a very well presented room with lots of interesting art. The staff were very thorough in attending to us for drinks/courses and even gave us a entree on the house! As a tourist it it sometimes hard to find a nice place who are friendly but all the staff greeted us with smiles. As for the most important part the food. It was simply great. As a chilli lover I ordered the spicy spaghetti meal and it hit the spot perfectly. And my partner got the Creamy Fettuccine Carbonara and it is a must for anyone who loves creamy pasta dishes. It is by far the creamiest dish we had ever tried so if creamy pasta is your thing this is the meal you must try in Florence!

Our food was excellent. Several unique dishes on the menu distinguish this restaurant. We highly recommend the Tuscan tomato soup, pasta Magnifico, and the chicken with truffle cream sauce. Our dining companions ordered other entrees and enjoyed those, too. The restaurant is decorated all over with eclectic art, which is a lot of fun and adds to the atmosphere. Service was also excellent.
