Great location. It's a good idea to go to the roof top at breakfast time to get your bearings. Great welcome from the reception staff who spoke english well and made us so welcome. Good size bathroom with a great heated towel rail for drying washing. Walls a bit thin so any noise in the hallway you can hear. Our room had heavy drapes on the windows which kept the noise and the cold out. Would recommend staying there.

Dear Guests,
It was a pleasure to read your positive review.
Now on our roof terrace there is an American Bar with a dramatic view...this could be a good reason to come back again!
Thank you so much and hope to see you soon.
Regards

I was looking forward to staying here after seeing the lovely photos on the website. However, although the decor of the rooms was stylish and the location central, the hotel was disappointing in every other way. The rooms are very small, in and of itself not a huge problem, but adds to the heat and airlessness that comes from having to sleep with the windows shut because of the noise (and it really is noisy - even with the windows closed - all night) and mosquitoes. The gym isn't open first thing in the morning which meant (for us) that it may as well not have been there. The breakfast was chaotic - we cleared our own table one morning - and just not very good. The staff were competent but the least friendly of the six hotels we stayed in while in Italy. I would not recommend this to anyone who wants a good night's sleep!

This was our third stay at the Grand Cavour in Florence. The location could not be better, just 2 blocks from the Duomo. All three rooms were good sizes as well as the bathrooms, complete with toiletries. The front desk staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful in restaurant suggestions (especially when we arrived at 11:30 one night), getting us cabs, and directions. On our first visit the wi-fi was spotty but not at all the last two. Our last night in the hotel was a noisy one but considering the location it was not at all a surprise.
We will return here whenever we get back to Florence.

We stayed here for three nights arriving on Easter Monday. The reception staff were
always extremely helpful. Our room was lovely, clean and bright and being on the 5th floor was quiet.
The shower was excellent and everything worked including the hairdryer.

Breakfast was better than some of the reviews stated. On most morning there was fresh fruit, bacon and eggs if you wanted them, cold meats and a selection of bread and croissants.
The coffee was cold on one of the mornings but on mentioning it we were given our own
freshly made pot.

The location is excellent. Everything is within walking distance and there are many great restaurants nearby down side streets and we did generally eat most of the time in places frequented by Italians.

We would certainly return to this hotel if we visit Florence again.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor which was gave us wonderful views of the surrounding terracotta rooftops

Was pleasantly surprised with how nice this hotel was. Bathroom was pretty tiny, but otherwise Room was great and nicer than I thought it would be. Seems like they are slowly updating some of their rooms. Hotel is super centrally located, literally a couples of blocks from the duomo. Only downside of the central location was the noise level on the street. They have a hidden roof deck that served drinks from 6-10. Was amazing because it had a stellar view of the city and wasn't crowded. At one point we were the only ones up there. We booked our trip though virgin vacations and this was a tier 2 hotel. Staff was friendly, spoke good english and helped us get some hard to get reservations.
