Owner description: This is the richest medieval church in Florence, which features frescoes by Giotto, a chapel by Brunelleschi and one of the finest of all early Renaissance tombs.

This was so much better than the Duomo! Cost 8€ and a very short line. It's stunning inside with so much to see. The tombs of many important people are in this church including Michelangelo, Donatello, Machiavelli and others . Many wonderful works of art, chapels Cloisters etc. best value in town.

This cathedral is a little further out than some of the others, but only by a ten minute walk. As well as the Basilica (which is beautifully peaceful and holds the remains of Michelangelo, Dante and Machiavelli), there's an outdoor courtyard which is lovely and peaceful, and you can also access the leather school from the cathedral.

Visited as soon as it opened, had guides already available at the entrance offering free tours, took it, as should everyone else. Visiting the graves of where such important historical figures are and hearing all their stories was wonderful.

Most people go here for Galileo and Michaelangelo tombs but the rest of this Franciscan monastery is a gem, including one of the oldest leather schools in the country. Take the time to see the rest - not just the main church.
