History, art, reflection. Not to be missed. Not exactly a child's idea of fun. But the historic importance is unmistakable

Maybe I am simply glazing over due to a surfeit of Renaissance art, but I didn't see much here that is distinguishable from what is in several other cathedrals in Florence. True, Sante Croce is quite large, and does contain the tombs of some very famous Italians (Galileo, Rossini, Machiavelli). Other than that, it just seemed to be more of the same in a day of tourism. Unless you really like "churches and graveyards", you may not find Santa Croce to be particularly compelling.
