We adored this hotel: it was charmingly appointed, in a perfect location, the staff was friendly and warm, the balcony was perfect for unwinding with a great view before dinner, and the price was super reasonable. We've already said that the next time we go back to Florence, we're definitely staying at the Palazzo Guadagni.

Really loved this hotel for its location, character and friendly staff. Stayed 5 nights in a twin bedded room (7) overlooking the Pitti Palace. 2 large windows let in good light. The room and bathroom were spacious perhaps a little too simple and a comfy chair would be a nice touch. The safe in the room was handy. If a hairdryer is important, suggest taking your own as the one provided in our bathroom cut out/overheated quickly. The room and bathroom were kept clean and good fluffy towels replenished when needed. The terrace area is great for having afternoon tea/evening drinks. The breakfast was a little unimaginative but there was enough to fill you and provide a good start to the day. All the staff were really friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. They always greeted us with a smile and helped with restaurant bookings, train times and airport taxis. There is a tiny lift (4 people max) once you're in the building that services the hotel. We mostly used this as there are quite a few stairs. The location of hotel is fantastic - in a lively square south of the river close to cafes, bars and restaurants. It takes about 10 minutes to cross the river and within 20 minutes you can get to most of the key areas including the Boboli Gardens. We walked everywhere in preference to hanging around for buses and were able to quickly soak in the ambience of this great city. I would stay at this hotel again for its character, friendly staff and great location.

The Guadagni is perfectly situated away from the tourist madness that Florence has become in recent years. P.San Spirito is similar to Trastevere in Rome- out of the way but close to everything.
I found the hotel to be excellent in every respect. Sitting on the third floor balcony on a eighty degree day in April looking at the snow in the distant mountains was incomprable.
The staff is superb!
To those who wrote that the rooms were 'spartan'; all I have to say is 'you're in Florence! If you want fancy decor stay at home or go to a Best Western.
The Guadagni provides an authentic stay in one of the world's most historic cities. I felt the hotel accentuated the feeling of being in Florence and would be hard to improve upon. I debated whether or not I should not keep this gem a personal secret and not post but these folks deserve credit.

I am so happy a friend recommended this hotel to me, it is a true gem! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They took care of booking tour reservations for me and made good recomendations for dining. My room was very comfortable, spacious, clean and had an amazing view of the city. The veranda was a wonderful place to relax at the end of the day, the view is stunning!

Stayed on a friend's recommendation. Our first challenge was finding it. If you are arriving at the Firenze SMN station: exit to the right, not left. At newsagent at bottom of stairs buy your single journey ticket. Follow street to your left, turn corner and the bus stop is straight ahead. Get off at the Serraglio stop and backtrack to the previous crossroad. Turn right and the Santa Spirito square is a couple of blocks down. Look for no. 6 & the small bronze plaque with the hotel name. Ring buzzer so that reception will open the autimatic door and take the elevator to reception on the second floor. Be aware that not all floors are accessible via the elevator and you may have to cart your luggage up the stairs. Staff very friendly and helpful. Wifi free but reception was no good in our room. Terrace nice for view and drink. Rooms large, comfortable and clean. Only one set of keys and you need 3: front auto door, foyer on your floor and your room so a problem if you want to come home separately. Square is a backpackers late night gathering place so partying going on till early hours and clean up starts shortly after. Big shutters help to muffle the noise but can't be totally effective. Bathroom large and clean: bath in ours. I understood only double rooms available but if you email before they will split the two singles. Not too far to walk into the tourist strip. Osteria Santo Spirito in the square ok for a meal. Olii and Convivium in Via Santo Spirito, a couple of blicks away, was our nicest meal
