“The Best, worth the wait”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

Ate here twice during a recent trip to Florence, it is the best, but expect a wait unless you are really lucky (as we were the first time which made it easy to wait for the second trip). You sit at group tables, but it all works out fine. The menu changes everyday. Go on Friday if you want to try interesting fish specials.

Open only for lunch so make this your main meal of the day.

After two visits some of the staff already knew us. If I lived there, I would eat there once a week.

“Best lunch in Florence”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

Excellent traditional Florentine food. Long wait so best to get there early. Fun atmosphere. Simple delicious food at great prices. Ceci soup is my favorite, as well as their ragu.

“Lunch we will always remember”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

Saying that visit to one small and rather modest trattoria is one of the most memorable moments in such wonderful city like Florence sounds strange but it is really true. After waiting for 15 minutes we entered extremely crowded and very modest looking room with just about ten tables and we were sited to share the table with “complete stranger”. Food was very good –bean soup, ravioli past and meat. You could really feel that it has been prepared in the grandma’s kitchen rather than in restaurant. Staff was helpful and spoke quite good English. Atmosphere was the one of the busy and crowded canteen rather than restaurant and that just added to charm of this place, definitely worth visit while in Florence. Be careful it is open only for lunch and be prepared to queue for 15 to 30 mins.

“Wonderful food shared with strangers”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

This is a definite must in Florence. We waited a long line and had to seat with another couple at the same table because the place is so small. We had the local classic, bistecca alla fiorentina which was really good, but the best was the ravioli with ricotta and a tomato sauce. Simplebu fantastic.

Also, being forced to seat with strangers can be a great exprience. My wife and I, which had been married for about 8 months shared tables with an Israeli couple that had been married for decades. They actually gave us good tips.

Dont expectgeat service although if you show true interest in their at,the hosts even let you glane into the kitchen area. Going just for the food is worth it!

“Hectic trattoria with great basic Tuscan fare”
Reviewed 20 April 2012

Yep, it's crazily busy, especially if you arrive after 12:30 or so. And, yes, you'll likely end up sharing a table, more than likely with other tourists although I've also shared tables there with Italian businessmen popping in for a quick lunch. It's solidly on the tourist map these days, but it's really hard to go wrong with their soups (their ribollita is lovely) and pastas, along with simple meat dishes like beef stew. Not the spot for a romantic meal, but you'll eat well and cheaply (by Florence standards).

Two pieces of advice: (1) make sure you poke your head in and put your name on the list and (2) it helps to study the menu outside while you wait, to make the ordering process easier. (They don't have menus at the tables.)
