Description: Around the tables of "Il Latini" friendships are interwoven, all the world's languages are spoken, fervent discussions are held and everyone tastes food that has the flavour of the old times past. Il Latini means tradition: a means of discovering Tuscany and its people. The kitchen is where the best products of Tuscany's countryside are turned into the dishes typical of the tuscan tradition. Il Latini's kitchen was originally the kitchen of Narciso's wife, who used to take the dishes from her home to the cellars in Palazzo Rucellai where tables were set. Sora Maria's cooking was made of ingredients and flavours typical of tuscan cuisine, simple and genuine food that nowadays are still a characteristic of the restaurant. The flood in Florence did not spare the tavern, which continued nevertheless to serve warm dishes Florentine citizens among the muddy streets.

I would rate this restaurant as more hyped than what it is.. service is good but they rush you through. Also the food is good but focus is given to only couple of dishes.

Affordable but not my fav in Florence

We booked a table here for our wedding anniversary after a recommendation. We arrived at 19:15 to be greeted by a huge queue to get in, fortunately they prioritise those with a reservation first so all good. It has a family feel to restaurant and the waiters are great. We both ordered steak which was fantastic with good bottle of Chianti of course. Would definitely recommend this restaurant anybody.

This place was great. We arrived at 8:45 with a party of six and no reservations. No problem! Waited about fifteen minutes for a table. Servers brought us complimentary red wine and cheese as we stood outside waiting. May be an issue if weather is bad as there is nowhere inside to wait. Our server was professional and quick. Jovial atmosphere throughout this place!

I'd heard great things about this restaurant (specifically the steak), and frankly as you can see from the two giant slabs of meat on the board it did it not disappoint. But that wasn't even the half of it. Our custodian for the night was fantastically welcoming, talked us through all the menu options in perfect English, and then we were each welcomed by the owner from the foot of our table. Something I've never experienced in any place and was really a nice touch. Then came the food and wine, neither in short supply and all exceptional. We'd decided before arriving that we'd fork out for the family style meal, which at €60 each for 4 courses seemed a little steep, but I can personally gurantee it is an absolute steal. With 4 courses in total, we started with the charcuterie platter with a caprese salad; moved onto a mix of soups and pasta; wobbled slightly on the 2-inch thick, mammoth-sized steaks (cooked rare); then notched our belts a few inches longer for 4 superb puddings. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven with the cheesecake! We were then brought a grappa and lemoncello each, to complete the night of wining and dining. There are no words. Just do yourselves a favour. Go. Go hungry. Go now. Pay the €60 and enjoy! Oh an there's no need to thank me, just thank the Il Latini for me for the wonderful night.
