We didn't discover L'Osteria di Giovanni until our last night, which was 29 August, so only had one meal there.
Matteo was our waiter and he spoke good English. The menu had a wide and varied choice and he then reeled off several other specials. What was nice was that we weren't pushed into having too much food, we had thought about starter, pasta dish and a main, but he told us to wait until after the pasta dish and then decide, how right he was. We were not over faced with the portions, but there was plenty. We couldn't decide on the Anipasti or tomato and bread soup, Matteo brought us the Anipasti and then a free sample of the soup, which was delicious. All the food was delicious and even though the restaurant was quite big a queue formed at the door, our suggestion is go early or book. We were never rushed to finish, in fact we were also given a free lemon sorbet and biscotti at the end even though people were waiting. This is not a cheap evening out, but is well worth the visit.
