Fairly close to the centre of Taormina and very close to the cable car. Superior room was comfortable, big good bed, reasonable bathroom. Large balcony with great sea view of the coastline and Calabria in the distance. Lovely large pool but down 180+ steps. Definitely worth the trip although we did it only once a day. There is a bar/cafe down there. Very good breakfast

Just returned and and would not recomend this hotel if you have any form of mobility problems. There are 8 floors but the lift only goes to 6 floors. The lift does not go to the restaurant. The fit and finish in the room are to a low standard. The emergency cord above the bath had been cut. Breakfast was ok but the a la carte restaurant was only open for less than 2 hours each evening and was rather expensive (did not eat at hotel). When we arrived we waited 4 hours on our room as our original room was on a floor the lift did not go to and was not offered a refund as we had upgraded the room.

Situated on the hill side right in between the Taormina Centre and the lovely coast line below, 3 minutes walk away from the cable car to get down and 5 mins walk away from Porta Messina, the entrance to the town.

The rooms face East and thus a perfect sunrise awaits you. We had a balcony room. The room and bathroom was nothing fancy but comfortable. There is a lovely pool but one needs to walk down 4 flights and back up again once done - not good for the weak ones (but they do have benches along the way). The staff was friendly, breakfast was very decent and they have a great set-up should one need to stay on after check-out time: private changing room with shower for 30 mins and at no additional cost.

Room Tip: Opt for a balcony

Delightful hotel very close to the town, and nearly opposite the bus station. Despite proximity to town and all its doubtless lovely restaurants, the restaurant at the hotel suffers only from the atmosphere with comes with greater custom! Beautiful food, wonderfully presented and pleasantly served, with a view that the hotel could charge for! We stared as the sun went behind the hills on the other side of the hotel, and watched the moon rise up in the sky, as we looked over the Straits of Messina. Fabulous. There was only one evening we didn't eat at the hotel - we exhausted the menu - which was when we were going to the opera and were concerned that we wouldn't enjoy the meal at the gentle pace we like. We would both very much like to return!

Don't be put off by the 187 steps up from the pool. The gardener works his little socks off to make it a diverting journey past some beautiful planting, with benches strategically positioned for occasional little rests!

Without exception all the staff at Grand Hotel Miramare are friendly and professional - from Francesco managing his brigade of restaurant staff, (and Guiseppe whizzing about like speed on wheels) to the obliging pool attendants, smiling reception staff. Even the maintenance man - all polite, friendly and helpful!

Thank you Grand Hotel Miramare for a truly memorable holiday!

Grand Hotel Miramare is recommended. We thought this hotel was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff, great choice of breakfast food. Big room, quiet hotel with impressive pool, albeit 200 steps down through wonderful terraced gardens. The views from the pool and bar terrace are fabulous. Really enjoyed staying here and were already thinking of visiting again!
