One of the prettiest hotels and finest experiences...location is fabulous, rooms are just gorgeous and staff is like family. The restaurant sits right on the sea, walking distance to fabulous town. Everything about this place is just class...I cannot wait to return.

Room Tip: I don’t think there is a bad room

The first glimpse of the sea glistening in the July sunshine, as the taxi wound its way up the hill from the station, rather set the tone for the rest of our stay.

Having been welcomed into the hotel we were first shown to the terrace for a drink and a brief personalised guide to the town and the surrounding area from one of the staff. With the places we were most interested in visiting marked on the map, we were next shown to our room.

We were fortunate enough to be staying in the top floor 'love nest' apartment which is in a townhouse about 150 yards from the main hotel building. Inside the house the apartment is accessed by climbing several flights of fairly steep stairs which would be a challenge for the less mobile, but the reward upon reaching the summit and looking out from your own private terrace is worth the exertion.

Inside, the apartment is stylish, comfortable and well-equipped. Next to the sitting area is a kitchen which serves nicely for preparing breakfast or cooking a simple meal. There is a thoughtfully prepared stock of crockery, glassware, cutlery and utensils, not to mention an electric juicer, as well as a capacious fridge-freezer, dual hob and a sink. The bedroom is a good size with a large comfortable bed, and there is plenty of storage space in the wardrobes. The bathroom is finished beautifully and has a 'double' shower. There is also a washing machine tucked away somewhere.

The crowning glory is the terrace and I make no apology for mentioning the view again. With Mount Etna on one side, mainland Italy on the other and the sea in front of you, not to mention the East coast of Sicily, you cannot help but be moved by the sheer beauty of the place, whatever time of day or night you find yourself admiring it. As regards practicality there are two chairs and a table with an umbrella which are perfect for a private al fresco meal, aperitif or nightcap, and a pair of sun loungers.

The hotel itself is excellent. Although we mainly made use of our own terrace for breakfast, we also sampled the hotel's breakfast, again on a terrace with a stunning view, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Reception were extremely helpful and arranged for us to spend the day at beach club along the coast, as well as arranging a private tour of a couple of sites of interest on the island, finishing with wine tasting at the Gambino vineyard on the slopes of Etna which we would highly recommend.

Although I cannot comment on the rooms inside the hotel, the apartment and hotel facilities and staff were superb. If you don't mind preparing your own breakfast or doing a little simple cooking (there are a couple of food shops about 10 minutes walk away and an excellent market in Taormina selling very reasonably priced fresh fruit and vegetables) then the experience of sitting on your own private terrace with that extraordinary view will be something you remember for a very long time.

We visited the Hotel Villa Carlotta at the end of October 2017 as a family of 2 adults and our 16 year old son.

From start to finish our stay at the Villa Carlotta was incredibly special. From our beautifully appointed room (103), to the superb peaceful outdoor areas, to the lovely dining room - this hotel is fully of comfort and luxury at every aspect.

But what makes this hotel so very special, without doubt, is it's staff. Welcoming, professional and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble at all. We cannot stress how kind and helpful everyone is and they all personally ensured our stay was a magical one.

Our room was tastefully decorated, had the most comfortable of beds, a large bathroom and views to die for. Ample space and storage and was kept impeccably clean at all times.

The restaurant offered a varied menu and catered well for our dietary requirements which included one vegetarian and one celiac requiring gluten free food. Nothing was too much trouble, and the knowledable waiting staff kindly made suggestions and assisted whenever we needed help.

We cannot recommend this hotel enough. So conveniently located in the heart of Taormina, just a really short walk from the main streets, sights and restaurants, yet peaceful, tranquil and truly beautiful. With the sight of Mount Etna perfectly positioned in one direction, the coast of Italy in another, and the sea with its endless horizon straight ahead. We would love to return again.

Thank you for a wonderful holiday

Dear Emma,
what a beautiful review and beautiful words you wrote, thank you so much.
Your room 103 is a Junior Suite that overlooks like all rooms the garden and the sea and I am happy you enjoyed it so much. And all the other hotel areas.
I would like to add nothing to your perfect description including our ideal location in the center of Taormina but a bit far from the bustle and noise.
We are looking forward to welcome you again in the future.
Kind regards,
Mr. Andrea Quartucci, owner of Hotel Villa Carlotta Taormina

We chose this hotel to celebrate a special anniversary and the stay has been absolutely perfect. From the minute we arrived we were treated with such warmth and kindness that relaxation was instantaneous. We were treated to a glass of Prosecco on the stunning terrace then taken to our beautiful room which was spacious, stylish and incredibly comfortable. The quality of every aspect of our stay was superb and the staff were without exception utterly charming. I am writing this from the hotel and wishing we could stay. Little details make all the difference; flowers in our room for our anniversary, a request for teabags led to the arrival of a tray of exquisite little biscuits ...all add to the feeling of being valued guests. Breakfast was amazing and even now in early November it was sunny and warm enough to eat it on the roof top terrace overlooking the sea and Etna. We decided to eat in the restaurant last night and were again treated so kindly with expert advice re wines. It was so good we are going back tonight. We will be very sad to leave tomorrow but will leave feeling that our holiday touring Sicily has ended on an absolute highlight and only hope we can return one day. I would recommend this without hesitation and would like to thank all of the staff for making our stay so wonderful. Shevyn, Salvatore and David were so kind and helpful in the restaurant, the reception staff were charming and every staff member we dealt with was a credit to the hotel. Thank you all for making our stay unforgettable.

Dear Catherine,
it's been simply wonderful to be able to serve you and your lovely partner last week and we feel so proud to read so many great words and positive comments.
Thank you for choosing Villa Carlotta as your honeymoon place, we are just a perfect place for that unforgettable moments of your life.
Stated that a luxury hotel must have a fantastic hardware - nice building, elegant comfy rooms, top restaurant, very nice view, etc. we believe that service is that untouchable thing that we stands out for and that make our guests feel like "valued guests" and not clients. I thank you for highliting everything about Villa Carlotta, we feel happy only when we make people happy.
Of course we'll be waiting for you on the hotel's door with open arms in 2018 and in the meanwhile we wish you have a wonderful time with your new husband!
Kind regards from Riccardo, Simona, Olga, Ajith, David, Alessandro, Francesco, Alberto, Giovanna, Vincenza, Cocco, Bambo, Barbara, Mara, Grazia, just to mention a few.
Arrivederci from the Hotel Villa Carlotta staff
