Taormina was our last stop during our tour of Sicily. We stayed 2 nights at this nice hotel, great location. The room was clean and comfortable and we had great views of the sea from the balcony. The dining room was elegant and breakfast more than adequate, we went for breakfast early as there were quite a few tour parties and the place gets busy. The tour bus had to drop us off some distance away as the road leading to the hotel is narrow. The hotel is adjacent to a lovely park from which you get great views of Taormina and is within walking distance to great restaurants and the rather touristy yet beautiful town.

A few reviews have stated the hotel is old and worn. Not our impression at all-some lovely old pieces of furniture in the public areas and an air of quiet charm.
Located 5/10 minutes from the town centre, which can be approached on the level via a beautiful park full of fascinating “follies”.
Maybe we struck lucky but our side sea view room gave us a splendid view of Taormina and Etna from its elegant tiled and wrought iron balcony. One or two of the electric sockets were a bit ancient but everything worked fine.
As said by others, breakfast is no more than ok but it’s certainly not poor, either. The bacon and eggs are warm to begin with but can be cool if you leave it till late. There are various breads and rolls, toast, croissants, cold meats, cheeses, cereals,a rather limited variety of fruit ,yoghurts etc. Put it this way-far more choices than at home!
The chandeliered dining room is MAGNIFICENT and affords beautiful views across to Etna and the sea.
We had heard from friends that dining in Taormina can be pricey so opted for half board. Absolutely no regrets-dinners were elegantly presented and delicious, with the added bonus of the impressive dining room.
ONLY minus point is the very steep hotel drive up to the road. However, there are also steps and a handrail right outside the main hotel door. I have arthritic feet and asthma but used the steps with no bother, cunningly pausing halfway up.
Would we go there again? YES!
PS All excursions out seem to start out very early in the morning,ie 6-8 a.m.

To wake up with a view across the bay of snow-capped Mount Etna every morning was something of a magical experience.Make sure you get a room with the volcano in sight! Good breakfast, comfortable, pretty well equipped room (no proper working desk and chair, though improvisation was possible with the bureau and the bed) - and a balcony with a simply amazing view.Excellent bathroom, comfortable bed. Huge, comfortable bar with a large outside terrace (Etna in view); swimming pool and lots more I didn't explore because I was at a meeting in another hotel. The town of Taormina is enchanting. Four days of bliss in a remarkable place - and lots more to explore within easy reach in the rich landscape of Sicily if you have time and transport..

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony and a full view of Etna and the sea

Old fashioned and dated place with strange logistics internally. My room was fine; clean and well maintained. There are no curtains so you have to utilise the electric shutters. The breakfast was pretty dire - cold food is the order of the day - cold tea, coffee, cold scrambled eggs, cold bacon. Staff nice and helpful but are up against a lot of running about to cope with the buffet which is miles from the kitchens. Bar service in the lounge good. Great views from the terrace across to Etna. Well positioned in relation to the town

At one time, many years ago, this hotel may have been a 4 star hotel. But definitely not today! The interior of the hotel is very dated, with old carpet, dated decor, and a dusty smell. There was no soap dish in the bathroom and only one bar of soap given for the shower and the sink. We did not get a room with a view and regret it. I think we had the smallest room in the hotel with a garden view. Our room was small and crowded and lacked adequate storage. There was an antique desk at the foot of the bed with a drop down top. If you drop the top down it blocked the walkway between the desk and the bed so you couldn't cross to the other side of the room! As we walked down the hallway to and from our room looking at other rooms being cleaned, we could see that every other room was much larger and more spacious than ours. There was no coffee pot in the room. The room came with metal roll down shades that were so noisy to raise and lower, you would instantly wake up if a neighbor opened theirs in the morning. And you can't access the balcony if the shades are lowered. There was also bad insulation so you can hear your neighbors. We felt like we had to whisper if we got in late so as not to wake the neighbors. And the blow dryer was so loud you could hear it all the way down the hallway with the door closed. The best thing about the hotel was the views of Mt Etna from the patio, bar and pool...amazing! I will not stay here every again, unless they remodel.
