Owner description: Take a peak at this "shameful" fountain, one of Palermo's revealing attractions.

This is the central-point set-piece fountain of Palermo. Unfortunately it has Nineteenth-Century railings around it and it is presently closed for restoration. When restored, it will be a fine sight. The statuary is of variable quality but there are some amusing faces. The setting in the square is very fine.

It's very beautiful fountain and what is more important it's in the heart of Palermo. A lot of nude statues which are beautiful, in front of the is a town hall where you can enter for free if there is no session.

Visited Palermo to see some of the sights. It is an exciting, if run down city and it has many attractions. The fountain should be one of them but, without water, it loses something. Sort of like the life is taken from it. The black fence around it detracts from it as well. It could be something remarkable but as it is, it is a sad beauty.

Fontana Pretoria is beautiful; it’s one of Palermo’s major attraction and it dominates over the Piazza Pretoria. The fountain's tiered basins ripple out in concentric circles, crowded with nude nymphs, tritons and leaping river gods. It was designed by the Florentine sculptor Francesco Camilliani between 1554 and 1555. Pity indeed, that during our visit there was no water running in the fountain.
