Whatever you are going tondo while in Palermo, make sure to pay a visit to this outstanding botanical garden! There are so many different plants, from the gigantic ficus to small cacti, lakes and greenhouses that will satisfy your cravings for green for a long time!

We were looking forward to our visit but were a bit disappointed to be honest. I wasn’t expecting Kew Gardens but it really should be better than this for your 6 Euros. No gardeners in evidence and you can see the results: some areas with no plants at all. On the plus there were lovely plants and trees in between. There was was also a lovely circular pond with terrapins or similar. It was also pretty quiet, though I expect that’s because it’s late April! The seem to be spending money on conserving and decorating the buildings so maybe in the future these will be filled with exciting exhibits. I’m no plant expert so apologies if there are some amazing specimens here that I didn’t notice. 3 stars for a relaxing hour and some good original specimens.

We always visit any botanical gardens and have always come away with something good/nice/interesting to say about them. Not this time - please read the other negative reviews too. It really is sad and neglected, no redeeming features. In fact just on the other side of the a fence is a really pretty park with some lovely statues - FOR FREE. I concur that the service was unusually lacklustre which is so rare for Sicily, where we have found people to be so friendly and helpful. Rarely write reviews (not good of me) but have never to this point written a poor one but with some many things to see and do, don't waste your time or money.

It's a nice place to relax and get some fresh, full of oxygen air. Nice getaway from the noisy and messy streets. Really liked it. As of collection of plants, it wasn't that impressive, but also, I'm no expert in the field.
