Away from the tourist track along a gritty neighborhood shopping street not far from La Pescheria market, you will find this family-run friendly trattoria. For only 8 euros per person ($9 today's exchange rate) two of us were overwhelmed with first the antipasti: a plate of local cheese, some wrapped with prosciutto, olives, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and an unidentified pickled vegetable. A separate plate of roasted artichokes was brought. Pastas were penne with pistachio sauce and penne alla Norma. Both simply delicious. Main dishes were a light chicken scallopini al limone and a bistecca fiorentina al cavallo (yes, horse meat with mushrooms). Again, delicious. All of this was accompanied by a liter of red wine and a basket of panini. We were stuffed. But then the server brought each of us a large blood orange that was exquisite. Run, don't walk, to this
heart-warming family-run trattoria for a giant mid-day meal!
