“Beautiful Villa, Gorgeous Hosts”

Delightful stay at Villa Segreta with 3 children in August. Thanks so much to our lovely hosts for making our stay so perfect. Villa, pool and location are all lovely with beautiful outdoor seating area under a shady walnut tree, poolside gazebo and views of smoking Mount Etna in the distance. But it was our hosts who really made our holiday special: prosecco, 'the best pasta sauce in the world' according to Francis (age 8) + a floodlit pool to jump into on our (late) arrival. Home made pizza from the outdoor pizza oven on our last day and lots of fun in between. The location is great, allowing for Mount Etna fun 25 minutes uphill and beach visits (by car) approx 45 mins down hill (you do need a car). Highly recommended: we would LOVE to come back. Thanks so much to Christine, Salvatore, Maria, Issac, Jude and not forgetting Cokie, Luna and Beagle: you made our holiday. Thank you!

Thank you for your review. You were lovely guests so easy going and friendly. Jude loved spending time with Francis. We would love to have you back anytime. My dad (Salvatore) always boasts about Francis saying his sauce being the Best pasta sauce in the world to family and friends, he made one old man happy!!
Best wishes

“Warmest Welcome in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 12 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We booked this villa as we liked the photos and wanted to be near Etna. What a lovely place, really. Though the weather was against us and we were ill, the caretake Salvatore completely made up for it. Looking back at the reviews now, none of the issues raised seem to be a problem now, except perhaps the hot water pressure, which is not really a huge problem due to the heat, though a pump would make this place flawless. The dogs are no problem at all and are well behaved to the point that they won't even come into the guest accomodation, if you like dogs they are wonderful company and if you don't they just get on with their own thing. The owners are extremely accomodating - we suggested a microwave as families with babies might appreciate this (we weren't bothered) and Salvatore went out that day to buy one!

On our first night we arrived late and were hungry and tired - a large glass of wine each, a bottle of prosecco and beautiful pasta meal provided by Salvatore was so welcome. He couldn't do enough for us, extremely accomodating for us and our children, who were free to run in the acres of olive groves, safe and fenced in from the road on the estate. The pool is one of the best we have come across at such accomodation, and was being meticulously cleaned by Salvatore every day. Yes its slightly cool but welcome in 30 odd degree heat. The poolside relaxation area was lovely and its incredible when there to think that you have such a facility completely to yourself.

All in all a very comfortable and enjoyable stay where we all felt at ease the entire time and would definitely stay again.

“A week isn't long enough”
Reviewed 3 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Four of us stayed at the villa in the last week of July, Christine and Salvatore made us welcome straight away with an ice cold bottle of Prosecco and Salvatore's LAST beer for the lads.

You can do as little or as much as you like from this hidden part of Sicily on Mount Etna's exciting slopes

Just up from Belpasso where you can get any food/drink you need you can relax all day by the private pool or head out to see the best parts of the island

If you need advice on places to visit, places to eat or just need a bucket of ice Christine and Salvatore will be on hand for you and equally leave you in peace when you are sleeping off a few mid afternoon drinks :)

The two rooms are great and had plenty of room for 4 of us (2 couples) have everything needed in the kitchen if you wanted to stay in and cook.

Some recommendations

*Order steak from the restaurant 5 minutes down the road and ask Salvatore how to have it cooked first

*Drive up to see the craters at the top of Mount Etna

*Try the local fruit and veg stores rather than the supermarket

*Don't run out of prosecco

Thanks for a great trip

“Beautiful Villa, Beautiful Location!”
Reviewed 31 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

My husband and i, and 2 friends have just spent a week at Villa Segreta, just outside Bellpasso, and what a fantastic week we had. Firstly, i would like to say that the photo's and descriptions online do not do this beautiful villa justice at all. As good as they look, the care, love and attention to detail that the owners of the Villa have applied is fantastic.

Everything that you would or could need is provided including the even little things such as travel plugs and beach towels. For anything that is not provided and you may need, the onsite caretakers Christine and Salvartore are pretty smart at finding them or advising how to find them, including ice, cool bags, olive oil and even a beach bag, thanks guys!! : )

On arrival we were greeted with a cold bottle of Prosecco and some beers for the boys, and even some juice for our pregnant friend. They went down a treat after travelling through the night from Wrexham to Gatwick, then to Catania and up to Bellpasso!

The standard of the Villa is very high, particularly so for Italy, where in my opinion, Villas can be very basic and usually with minimal attention to detail. The kitchen is ace, we love to cook and so the large gas 5 ring burner and oven, large BBQ and Pizza Oven areas went down a treat. There is a good fridge, no freezer, but Christine and Salvatore have a freezer available if needed.

The bedrooms are huge and beautifully set. Large, Overly Comfortable beds and lots of storage and dressing areas in both. The communal living area is very basic but has everything you need when you don't intend on spending much time inside watching TV.

There are dining areas outside and inside, pool side and set back into the garden too. You can pretty much choose where you want to relax, all areas are light at night and catch the sun in the day.

The pool is lovely, a great way to cool down when the temperatures are too high, we clocked 38 degrees this week, so if you need a dip, the pool is perfect. It was cleaned whilst we were staying, early in the morning and maintained daily to remove any bugs or vegetative matter.

The Villa is around 1000 meters above sea level, and you do need a car. Access to South Etna National Park is 20 minutes uphill, which is amazing to visit, and local villages Bellpasso and Nicollosi are 10 minutes drive away too, for all your amenities, restaurants and bars. These villages are not tourist destinations, they are very much local towns and English is not widely spoken, so if you have no Italian vocab, you will struggle in certain places, so get to grips with the basics. Locals in restaurants and bars will try their best to houmour any communication barriers and get there eventually but it may be tricky at times.

Our whole week was amazing and made perfect by our hosts, we are probably younger at 30/31 than most that would choose to stay in this area so it was lovely to be welcomed so generously. Nothing bad to say about the Villa at all, some reviews on here moan about little things such as water pressure, but to be honest, when you are staying half way up Mount Etna you don't expect much different and if you do.......well........no brainer really. 4 of us showered adequately, twice daily, every day so it wasn't an issue for us.

In Short, i would highly recommed Villa Segreta and will certainly return again. A beautiful, loved and happy place to stay, in a beautiful part of the world. If i can say anything negative, it would be that we didn't get to see Etna blow off any steam.......rubbish!!!

“A lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 30 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We stayed at Villa Segreta for five days, we would have liked longer but the flights didn't work out as we would have liked.
On arrival at the Villa we were met by Christine who made as very welcome, we were shown the villa, dropped our bags and were given a bottle of chilled Prosecco by the pool with a view of Mount Etna in the background, marvellous.
The villa is comfortable and adequate, there was a slight problem with hot water pressure but this was minor, the villa it is perfectly placed to explore Etna and surrounding area.
There are three dogs on site who gave us hours of entertainment they are certainly not a problem.
All in all we had a lovely stay at Villa Segreta and I would like to thank Christine and Salvatore for there wonderful hospitality.
