We’re half Italians, so we tried a lot of restaurants in Italy and specially here in Sicily! It’s not for granted that you will find a good service in Sicilia, but finally “il gambero pazzo” with their excellent trained staff, has been a restaurant which beats everything! They are very professional and attentive. The food is qualitative and the price is really good for the location of the restaurant (very close to the castle “Ursino”)
We payed 60€ for four persons. All of us had a main dish, one salad, two bottles of water, two espresso, two desserts and in addition the chef offered us a plate full of delicious shrimps, a plate with a tryout (newborn fish meatballs) from the kitchen and at least some spirits to choose.
So it’s a perfect place to have a dinner here in Catania, don’t miss it!

Visited after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor. So many 5/5, thought we had to try We did the 25 euro tasting menu. Here are my thoughts:

Overall: Nice atmosphere, plenty of food, diverse tasting of cuisine, but food was less than ideal.

We were first presented with a cold appetizer platter of octopus, shimps, sliced raw and pickled fishes. For the most part, very fresh and delicious. Best course of the meal.

Second, we were given hot appetizers. This consisted of breaded muscles and breaded clams. My friend and I both agreed that the breading was too much- impossible to taste the seafood itself, and not much flavor, too heavy. There was also a fish cake type of thing (a typical regional dish), which was also pretty bland.

Finally we were given each a plate with two different types of pasta - one a pesto/salmon, the other a tomato based sauce with another type of fish. At this point in the meal, neither of us were particularly hungry. The pesto pasta was tasty, but neither of us ended up touching the second type, partly because we were so full already, partly because it wasn't spectacular by any means - a tomato sauce with chunks of very fishy fish.

After dinner we were given a nice refreshing cup of lemon sorbet and the option between coffee and lemoncello.

Overall, we left with mixed feelings. While this meal was more than enough food, and gave us a great introduction to Sicilian cuisine, friendly and goodlooking waitstaff, the food itself didn't feel particularly exceptional.

One of the best meals we've had during our travels throughout Europe. Excellent appetizers, main, bottle of wine for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

A kind of hidden gem, we would not get there without a recommendation. The place serves tasty dinner at a very affordable price. Friendly service and the experience would be almost perfect. One thing to complain is espresso served in plastic cups. Be more environment-friendly guys, real glass cups are not that expensive and way better for the Earth.

I visited this place, following good feedbacks of the others. Two nights in the row we had dinner there. You will be surprised on your first visit to see how full is there with no sign at the main street and being in a quiet area! book your table in advance on their facebook.

Grill fish of the day can be a very good choice. Dont miss their suggested starters.
