Claudio, the host, was an excellent communicator. He emailed before out trip and offered to meet us from the bus stop in town when we arrived and was very friendly and welcoming. He even adds his own personal touch to the B&B by, very generously, offering a bottle of wine on our first night and even making home made cheesecake for the B&B occupants to share. While he is very friendly and approachable, he also isn't at all intruding and leaves his guests to relax in peace! I like that breakfast time is not strict - he made it clear we can have our breakfast (basic: toast, croissant, yoghurt, cereal) whenever we liked - this worked for us as we are lazy people who like to sleep in a bit later! It was very clean at all times and a nice cool temperature when it was hot outside. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town, depending on how fast you walk. It's very simple directions and not far at all, on the way are a couple of supermarkets too which comes in handy.
Some more negative points (but not dealbreakers for me):
It can be a bit noisy in the apartment - not because of any people but because the doors tended to slam a lot and are very noisy due to the glass panes shaking! It's not a huge problem - you just have to get used to gently closing door handles, etc. No bath mat for the shower! There was always a little puddle of water outside the door - recommend using flip flops to avoid getting feet/floor wet. Cleaning - really not an issue for me at all as we were fairly tidy - but everyday the beds were made but not much else was done. Like I said, not a problem if you are already a tidy guest. Plus, I noticed that other places charge for cleaning so Calciufetta is very good in this respect.
