I was just four nights in Alghero, and I found this B&B very good. Relatively close to old town and coast. Host is a nice and friendly guy generously proposed a bottle of wine providing a taste of marvelous Island of Sardinia. May be I choose this property again if I come to Alghero next time.

Claudio, the host, was an excellent communicator. He emailed before out trip and offered to meet us from the bus stop in town when we arrived and was very friendly and welcoming. He even adds his own personal touch to the B&B by, very generously, offering a bottle of wine on our first night and even making home made cheesecake for the B&B occupants to share. While he is very friendly and approachable, he also isn't at all intruding and leaves his guests to relax in peace! I like that breakfast time is not strict - he made it clear we can have our breakfast (basic: toast, croissant, yoghurt, cereal) whenever we liked - this worked for us as we are lazy people who like to sleep in a bit later! It was very clean at all times and a nice cool temperature when it was hot outside. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town, depending on how fast you walk. It's very simple directions and not far at all, on the way are a couple of supermarkets too which comes in handy.

Some more negative points (but not dealbreakers for me):
It can be a bit noisy in the apartment - not because of any people but because the doors tended to slam a lot and are very noisy due to the glass panes shaking! It's not a huge problem - you just have to get used to gently closing door handles, etc. No bath mat for the shower! There was always a little puddle of water outside the door - recommend using flip flops to avoid getting feet/floor wet. Cleaning - really not an issue for me at all as we were fairly tidy - but everyday the beds were made but not much else was done. Like I said, not a problem if you are already a tidy guest. Plus, I noticed that other places charge for cleaning so Calciufetta is very good in this respect.

Room tip: There are 3 rooms - we stayed in the largest (with wrought iron double bed and mirror), which was very nice and comfortable with plenty of space. I believe the other two rooms can be either twin rooms or double beds. I got to have a peek in one of the rooms once, and it seemed like a decent size and similarly furnished.

Stayed here for 4 nights thinking to get breakfast some good nights of rest. The host is a really nice guy, even baked a came, but probably not really a b&b owner type. Take it as a bed no breakfast and you're ok. It's a fair walk to old the old town and it's pretty noisy.
I wouldn't go back here.

We stayd there for 8 days in November. Very clean, friendly atmosphere, 10 min walk to the Old City. Breakfast could be better. (You are allowed to use the kitchen, you can always buy fresh bread and delicious sardinian pecorino cheese in local supermarket). There is also a lovely restaurant just arround the corner - La Lanterna (Always full of Italians - great sign! It opens at 7:30 PM!) Highly reccomended for everyone!

I stayed here 6 nights with the occasion of going to a friend's wedding.
It was the best choice, half an hour from the airport, 20 minutes from city center and the beach.
The room was cleaned every day, the breakfast with lots of choices and also a nice touch from the host we received homemade cakes almost every day.
I liked very much the welcome gift and receiving of cakes on the day when we arrived. This and free wi-fi completed my positive review of Calciufetta.
