The apartment is located close to the eastern point of the old city. It is just a short walk to the old city wall with the seaside walkway (the Lungomare) and an easy walk to the shopping area surrounding Via Sparano. The narrow, winding streets of the historic old city are at the doorstep. Besides the numerous churches, there are a many shops and restaurants to be found when exploring these streets. This was the first time in two months in Italy that we felt, because of the location, that we were truly experiencing Italian day-to-day living, which was what we were looking for.
The apartment is spacious and spotlessly clean. The bedroom is on a balcony over the living area. The bed is very comfortable and there is lots of storage for clothes. There is very good wifi and TV, including some English channels. The kitchen is well equipped for short or long term stays, including an espresso maker with pods. The hosts left some refreshments, snacks, and many of the basic necessities, which was very generous. We stayed 12 days in February and found nothing wanting. It is worth noting that there was lots of heat to keep the apartment warm on cool evenings (two of the heaters are also air conditioners for the warm seasons).
Our hosts, Marco and Florentina, were extremely hospitable, and exceptionally concerned for our comfort. They were responsive, informative, and helpful. Marco insisted on driving us to the train station when we departed. These are genuinely caring and engaging people who want to ensure that their guests completely enjoy their stay. They made the entire experience in Bari an unforgettable memory for all the right reasons.
