B&B Il Geco In Arena
Ranked #154 of 430 Verona B&B and Inns
Reviewed 19 December 2015

II geco in Arena is a small hotel in Borgo Roma, south Verona. The Rooms are cool and stylish and there is an excellent rooftop terrace looking out over the city towards Central Verona. The surrounding area is quiet with many small café bars and restaurants. The walk into central Verona takes about 30 minutes and there are plenty of busses if you don't want to walk.
The owner Gabriele is very friendly and knowledgeable and also speaks very good English.
Highly recommended!! I always stay here whenever I am in Verona, which is very often.

I have been guest of Geco in arena for 2 weeks and i never felt like in an anonymous hotel. Gabriele (the owner) was always kind and helpful.
Lovely & clean rooms, clean & comfortable beds, spacious and clean private bathroom. The breakfast is fantastic, choice of natural healthy food and beverages.
The rooftop has any amazing view of Verona, i can't forget the the sunshine!!
The location is very close to train station and bus stop to the old city which lasts about 5 minutes. Nice restaurants and take away food store next by.
Free Wi-Fi is very reliable & very appreciated.
Free fruit available in common area. Very cheap extra services like dry cleaner or private car (with driver).
I have been in Verona several times and definitively Geco in Arena is the best B&B whom i was guest of.

We just finished our four night stay in the Liston room.

ROOM: Very clean, tastefully decorated although a bit stuffy as it is on the ground floor and there is not much natural light in the room. You do have your own private entrance though as you are on the ground floor. The room comes with a hair dryer and fridge. There is an air con/heater in the room that you can adjust to your preferred temperature. Toiletries are limited to an organic soap. It's very quiet and the bed is quite comfortable.

INTERNET: It does not work in the Liston room so you will have to either go up to the terrace or sit on the stairs where the signal is strong.

LOCATION: The B and B is located outside of the city center--3 km from the old city gate. Although you can catch many buses that go to the city center and the station from a bus stop close to the B and B, the schedule at the bus stop is not accurate and you may find yourself waiting for a bus for a long time. Coming back on the bus from the city center--there is only one bus--no. 92 that will take you somewhere along via. Scuderlando where you will then have to walk to the B and B.

It is of course possible to walk to the city center if you are feeling up to it--the walk, however, is not a scenic one as you must spend some time along an expressway.

BREAKFAST: Although it is called a B and B it is a bit misleading as the breakfast is of the prepackaged variety--we were told the products were organic however if that is important to you.

PROPRIETOR: Friendly and gave some helpful suggestions. Picked us up at the train station on our arrival day.

Although we had a good sleep and didn't mind the walk into the city center and back we would likely stay somewhere closer to the city center next time around.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a room that is higher up so you don't have to up sit on the stairs or go u...

We stayed here for one night on our way to Tuscany. We arrived in the early evening, having driven from southern Germany. The owner, Gabriel, was waiting for us and, despite a leg injury, did his best to show us the B&B's facilities. We were very impressed with the eco-friendly design of the premises and, while others may prefer a more traditional Italian style decor, we were very happy with what we found. We ate at a local restaurant and returned to the B&B to take advantage of the view of Verona offered by the roof terrace and a botle of wine which we purchased from Gabriel. The only disappointment of the experience was breakfast. This consisted of pre-packed Italian-style croissants and biscuits. The coffee machine/water boiler allowed us a cup of tea and a cup of cappucino each. This had to be consumed in the room, as there is no breakfast room as such.

We are three mature couples, who are well travelled, and have just spent 7 days in this excellent B & B., just ten minutes by bus from the centre of Verona.
The owner, Gabriele could not have been more helpful, offering us transport by his car from time to time.
The eco friendly building is very new, and one of the attractions for us was the fact that each bedroom had its own ensuite. We also made good use of the top floor Terrace, as the weather was very good during our stay.
Good public transport from 50 mtres - and free street parking for those with cars.
Also a number of local restaurants if you dont want to go back to town after a busy day. Just ask Gabriele. We did a bit of both.

Room Tip: All three doubles are more than adequate
