Overall the Hotel Italia is a family run indepedent hotel with a lot more character than a chain establishment. The main areas are well presented and the rooms served to a high standard.

We booked a standard room which was larger than average with a generously-sized en-suite bathroom that was only just smaller than the bedroom itself. Being a loft room it was quite warm and the air conditioning unit didn't appear to relieve this but opening the windows did cool things down nicely. The bed was comfortable and the noise from the street outside didn't disrupt a good night sleep. The voices and noise from the next door room was a little unexpected so it is worth bearing in mind that there is virtually no sound proofing but do not let that put you off - it is only a minor criticism.

Breakfast was included in the room rate, usually 12 euros per person, and was very good. There was a great selection of pastries, cereals, yoghurts, cheese, cold meats, local sweet breads and rolls. There was also some scrambled and boiled eggs which were on a heated plate (not cooked to order). Drinks included concentrated juices, water and hot drinks from a machine. Best to avoid the machine drinks and ask the waiter for fresh coffee at additional cost.

The hotel is located 10-15 mins walk from Piazza delle Erbe and a little further to the Arena. There's plenty to see along the different possible routes into town and maps are available from reception.

The recent addition of a sauna area and well-equipped games room in the basement area give additional value. They are open every day from 4.30pm-8.30pm and are a good place to relax and have fun after a day of exploring.

If you are staying in Verona for a couple of days it is worth going to Pizzeria Mameli (Via Goffredo Mameli, 98), just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The pizzas and tiramisù are divine with quick service, and while the staff do not speak English it is a fair bit cheaper than the restaurants in the tourist areas.

Room Tip: We stayed in a loft room on the top floor

We stayed at the Hotel Italia in Verona for one night and would not rave about it. The reception staff were welcoming but the rooms were small as was the bathroom. We had the normal buffet breakfast but the service was quite poor ie tables not being cleared, cutlery not replaced etc
The hotel was in an area close to the old town - within walking distance. We had to pay extra for the internet connection and could only use this in the lobby. Overall - not as good value for our money as we had thought it would be. 2 star not 3 star

My [single] room and en suite at Hotel Italia was very comfortable and quite spacious. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the breakfast buffet was excellent.

The hotel is ideally placed about 5 minutes walk to the river where there are some beautiful views and another 5 minutes to the centre of the old part of the city. The hotel is also on very handy bus routes (tip: get a bus map from Tourist Information) and there is a supermarket just down the road.

The Hotel Italia was simply perfect. It is counted as a 3 star. Though it was a very basic hotel, it turned out to be mine and my teenage daughter's favorite in 13 nights travel through Italy
It was a great value and they have Wi-Fi for a nominal fee. The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was among the best. Christina in the lobby even helped me order the wine they carried in their showcase! The hotel is directly across the street from one of Italy's best gelato places. It was only short walk from the center of town. You cross a beautiful bridgeon the way. Did I mention they have a little gym! So cute!

The Hotel Italia in Verona, Italy was a very nice hotel. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It is outside the city center, but it is an easy walk (less than 10 minutes) to Piazza Erbe and the major sites in Verona. The bathroom was on the small side (especially the tiny shower stall!). The staff at check-in were very friendly and helpful, suggesting events to attend in the city (live opera at Verona's Arena) and providing maps of the city. Overall, a very nice hotel! I would stay here again.
