Elefante Blu serves Indo-Ceylonese dishes. All of them with recognisable "Indian" names although the charming and helpful owner, Ernest, and his kitchen staff are from Sri Lanka.
The flavours and spices are totally fresh and authentic.
This review is solely based on the one lunch I had there; lamb vindaloo with basmati rice. It was extremely good. I asked Ernest to make it extra spicy which his kitchen delivered to perfection. The dish came hot and tasty. No fat on the lamb chunks. Real basmati rice; hot and fragrant.
Not sure of the portion size I held back ordering a second "main" and asked for 2 poppadums as a starter. These came, crisp and fresh, along with a 3-boat tray of mixed hot pickle, mango chutney and mint chutney. I love it when they do that and you don't have to ask.
Very impressed with this place and rather odd to find it in a place like Verona.
But when you just can't face another plate of pasta...
Highly recommended. And Ernest is a sweetie.
Total cost for lunch, including 1 litre of sparkling water, €17. Very reasonable.
