We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and couldn't fault it . We had requested and were given a quiet room at the back . The standard of decoration of the bedroom and bathroom was very high and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is ideal- only a few minutes ' walk from the centre. We were unlucky in being in Verona during a cold damp spell but being able to return to such a warm and comfortable hotel made all the difference.

We stayed for three nights at the end of March and had asked for the 'blue room' as featured on the hotels web site ans we were very pleased to be given that room on arrival.
The only slightly grumpy face we saw all weekend at the hotel was the lady receptionist who was working on our arrival but we did not see her again and can only compliment the friendliness of all the staff (especially the two ladies who serve breakfast - wonderful happy people!)
Speaking of breakfast, it was perfect. I had freshly made scrambled eggs made for me each morning. I skipped breakfast one morning, and my hubby was bringing me back a bread roll and some fruit when one of my friendly ladies stepped in and offered to bring me a pot of tea up to the room - how nice was that!!?
The hotel seemed quiet during our stay so maybe we got a little more attention but I doubt it. Its a wonderfully located spot and we would certainly stay there again. Top class all around!

Room Tip: Ask for one you see on the hotel website!

The Colomba d'Oro (Golden Dove) is the best place to stay in Verona, especially if you're going to opera at the Arena. It's a fine hotel, very comfortable, with an excellent, helpful staff. It's just a block off the Piazza Bra, the city's main piazza, which is always bustling with people and is surrounded by open air restaurants that are busy until late at night in summer. At one end of the Piazza Bra is the Arena, a Roman coliseum which is now used for opera all summer with a seating capacity of about 20,000. Seeing an opera at the Arena is one of the signal experiences one can have in northern Italy, and the hotel is virtually in its front yard.

Fabulous stay whilst on business for a change from the Maxim. Enjoyed the stay, a warm welcome, small bar and small restaurant are for breakfast. Room clean and decorated to a high standard and probably one of the best bathrooms I have ever experienced.

Would I stay or recommend absolutely, 2 minute walk to piaza Bra and the arena makes this ideal for the centre of Verona.

Breakfast is simple but even the orange is freshly squeezed....fruit, eggs, pastries or ham and cheese....fantastic.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in a room not overlooking the road at th rear of the hotel

A hotel that does everything right for its 4 stars. Situated a few steps from the Arena and Piazza Bra (in the very centre of Verona) it allows you to easily walk around the city. The lobby is frescoed, and although it is certainly not antique, I find it a very charming idea (and very fitting for Italy). Rooms are adequately large and their style matches the slightly old-fashioned look of the hotel itself (to avoid any misunderstanding it does not mean that they are old and in need of refurbishing – only that the décor is not modern) . Decent breakfast – maybe not the most varied offer, but what they serve is of good quality and the orange juice is fresh. All this makes for a comfortable stay in nice surroundings and, of course, in a beautiful city, which is worth a few days visit.
