We loved our stay at Palazzo Stern. The staff was friendly and great with the kids. Dossoduro is less crowded than the San Marco area, but there is a Vaporetto stop next to the hotel. The building is charming and we highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotel is beautifull. An ancient building rebuilt during the belle epoque. The staff is outstanding!!! Very kind and always helpfull. Good breakfast. The restaurant is very basic but the staff will make their best to feed you, if you want to eat at the hotel. And it is not expensive. The situation of the hotel is excellent. You can reach by foot with light luggage (20 minutes from the train station) or if you have more luggage or a baby you can take a boat or Vaporietto (Line 1) and descend at the boat station "Ca Rezzonico", the Hotel is just beside. The hotel has a terrace on the front that is against the gran canal. This terrace should be beautifull in spring, summer or early autumn. When we visit Venice it was a bit cold and rainy so we could´nt enjoy it. Good cuality/price ratio for Venice, were everything is very expensive.

Room Tip: If the room has view then it is more expensive. The rooms without view look to the west towards the sunset and are much more quiet.

The Palazzo Stern is a beautiful and elegant hotel. It is in the Dorsoduro section of Venice and located on the Grand Canal. The staff are pleasant and helpful. It is away from the busy Saint Marc square. The Fortuny lamps are dazzling. It is extremely quiet.

My wife and I had an awesome 4 night stay!
Staff was very friendly.
Hotel is cozy & old style elegant!
Suggest upgrading to deluxe room or junior suite. We did and loved it!
Located right on the grand canal!
Only improvement could have been more vegan options for the included breakfast.

I spent a glorious 4 nights here for my 50th birthday and cannot give this hotel enough praise. When you arrive you step onto a red carpet and this sets the scene for your stay. The hotel has a fantastic location on the Grand Canal in the beautiful Dursodoro area, which is not overly touristy and feels very authentic. There are plenty superb restuarants, shops , cafes, bars all nearby where you will be met with friendly service and prices that are not extortionate. It is so easy to access all of Venice from here too, either by waterbus or walking. .but you will be comfortably far enough away from the crowds of San Marco.
We stayed in a large suite with a balcony with beautiful views, and it was very luxurious. The room was exaclty as the pictures show - spacious, tastefully decorated, beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, jacuzzi bath, bidet, plenty of toiletries, coffee maker that made very good expresso, etc. Breakfast was plentiful with good choice of continental plus bacon and eggs, served with a freshly pot of coffee and a smile! It was too cold to sit out on the little terrace but this would be a treat to have breakfast alongside the Grand Canal.
Now the staff - superb! They really were friendly, efficient and so helpful and couldn't do enough for us, from booking a concert, advising on waterbus timetables and even 'fixing' the coffee machine that I couldn't work! We were delighted to receive a chilled bottle of proseco for my birthday and on early our departure they supplied us with lovely packed breakfast.
I'm sorry I do not know their names to mention them personally.
Thankyou all so very much for your kind hospitality - I look forward to returning.
