“Great location, nice hotel, but you're on your own!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2011

I just returned from what I hope to be the first of many trips to Italy and while this was a nice hotel overall, I would not necessarily recommend it to the American traveling abroad for the first time. When we arrived we were buzzed in and greeted, not by a concierge, but by an envelope with our name on it and a set of keys. We were left to our own devices to navigate the streets of Venice. We had no one to ask directions or for a restaurant recommendation. That was disappointing. We also found the fact that there was signage stating that they could not accept credit cards, essentially forcing us to get more Euros and pay in cash. It would have been nice to have had the choice. Otherwise, the room was nice, clean and efficient. The breakfast was sufficient and the location was excellent.

This hotel is in a great location in a quiet street but a stone's throw from Zattere and Accademia. The room we had was compact, clean and stylish with a decently equipped ensuite. All at a decent price. The air conditioning was much appreciated. The breakfast is delivered to the room which was a nice touch. I'd have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

I stayed here one night while traveling through Europe. The staff were really kind, friendly, and made my stay in Venice more enjoyable. The rooms was cosy but nicely furnished as they served you a good breakfast in the morning. I definitely recommend it.

This hotel was recommended by Rick Steves. The hotel was definitely enough for our stay, but there wasn't anything above and beyond about it. What we liked most was its location in Dorsoduro away from the crowds, but within easy walking distance of food and sights. We saw Marco, one of the owners, when he served breakfast to our room each morning and checked us out. We arrived during siesta time so we pushed the call button outside of the door, and he let us in and guided us to an envelope with our key and information. We would have enjoyed a little more help, but we found things just as easily ourselves. The room and bathroom were definitely the smallest of our trip to Rome, Florence, and Venice. It was clean enough, but I think the bathroom could have been cleaned more thoroughly each day. It was very quiet and calm though with quick and free wireless access. Marco did find some gluten-free biscuits for my husband, which was very nice of him!

We stayed in one room the first night which was called small, and in fact is was very tiny, and bathroom incredibly tiny. The room for the next two nights was offered in the email as large with a large bathroom, but in fact the room was small, and the bathroom was in fact still tiny with very small shower cabin and impossible to sit normal on the toilet. The friendly owner Marco said this was normal for Venice. There was some noise from other guestst and neighbours in nearby appartments arriving late at night or watching TV. Not a bad place, because the rooms look nice and are clean, but be warned about the above and I wonder if this was good value for 160 euro per night (if we pay cash). Even expensive for Venice standards.
