After reading through many hotel reviews in Venice Italy i came upon the Hotel Ca Dogaressa. Every single review i read was excellent. Based on this, we booked a room and were just there for 2 nights. It is ALL true what you read. First of all, it is an extremely charming hotel with only 12 rooms. They are decorated in the typical Venetian style which is so beautiful. The room was impeccably clean. We had a smaller room not on the canal which was fine because we spent so much time outdoors wandering. Our room was 100% completely quiet. It is very reasonably priced compared to all the other hotels available too. The owner is Paolo who could not have been more gracious. Both he and his wife take great pride in the upkeep of their great hotel and took time to guide us to great places to go visit. I highly recommend getting a 2-3 day water taxi pass. This allows you to go every and anywhere the Vapretto (water taxis) go. We spent 20 euros for a 2 day pass. This includes going to the islands of Murano and Lido too. I think one way on the water taxi is around 6 Euros so this is a great deal especially if you go in the summer, it’s so hot you can only walk for so long. being on the water and in the breeze like this definitely cooled us off. This hotel is in a residential area and we could not be more happy that we were NOT in the hustle and bustle areas of high tourist season. There is a Vapretto (water taxi) station right near the hotel too. so i recommend as soon as you et to Venice go to one of the many ticket booths and buy this several day pass. We did it the hard way and parked our car, then walked with our heavy luggage all the way to the hotel. If we had known about this 2 day Vapretto pass we could have caught one of these right to the hotel! Down the street from the hotel is the Jewish Ghetto. There is a restaurant there that was really great food. Anyhow book at this hotel you won’t be sorry you did!

It’s a bit disappointing to provide a less than exemplary review for a hotel that you researched on trip advisor. Nonetheless, the hotel should be more forthcoming in their disclosure of an absence of any lift. Sure staff were kinda sorta there to assist with luggage it was an omission that one has to consider material. The luke warm accommodation only served to exacerbate the lack of disclosure. While there wifi was as good as anywhere we traveled on our month long excursion there were too many other misses to offer a strong endorsement. For example virtually all of the furnishing were less than authentic plywood and veneer replicas in antiqued faux finish. It’s understandable that authentic pieces aren’t expected in a three star property but the lack of a shower? Regardless, the replicas should be more nearly authentic than the furnishings that were evident. We were also disappointed in the quality of restaurant references. On the positive side the property was clean with good air conditioning and the front desk was certainly accommodating in holding our bags while we waited for an afternoon train off the island. If you’re looking for an affordable property in the Jewish ghetto, Ca’ Dogaressa is not a bad choice.

Room Tip: Be aware there is no lift and the staff may be less than enthusiastic in assisting with your luggage

This lovely Venetian hotel is situated on the north west part of Venice out of the way but minutes walk from the millions of tourists. The proprietor was an amazingly helpful and polite man someone you wished was your Grandfather he actually reminded me of mine. Rooms are kitted out in Venetian style and very comfortable with AC,bath and free wifi and TV. If you are lucky enough you get a canal view also. I will be staying here again if it doesn't work out with this girlfriend and I end up going back ;) Boat bus stop is close by and €20 euro for a 24 hour pass don't get overpriced boat taxis the buses are fine.

The room was ostentatiously decorated in traditional Venetian style; even the toilet was beautiful!

On the quiet side of Venice, we managed to sleep peacefully every night, although the high tide created a bit of a problem in the mornings as one would need galoshes to walk over to the main street.

Breakfast wasn't a high point as the fare was minimalistic, but the service was excellent.

We stayed for two nights. Enough time to see wonderful Venice, but would happily stay longer just to stay in this lovely hotel

It is a lesson in how most people do not want fancy stuff on their travels - just simple food, spotlessly clean accomodation, polite service, beautiful air-conditioned quiet rooms, seamless room service (our room was made up and cleaned for us in the time we went for breakfast outside by the canal), everything works as it should. I can honestly say that (apart from a shower curtain), I couldn't ask for 1 more thing that would make the hotel nicer - even Gianpaulo in his wonderful pigeon English (not derogatory, his english is 100 times better than my Italian) is a joy to listen to to get advice on how to explore the City.

We have loved Venice, and will return, and would not consider staying anywhere else - loved it!

Room Tip: The junior suite overlooking the canal - excellent view and v peaceful with all the windows closed
