“Loved this hotel!!”

What a wonderful way to begin our 10 day vacay.....a few nights at the lovely Ca Dogaressa in Venice!! Hats off to Paulo the owner and his wonderful crew - they helped us navigate the canals and walkways, ordered our tickets to a Vivaldi Concert, then even called incessantly until they answered to make sure there was a place for the 2 of us. Breakfast outside by the canal was refreshing and relaxing, not to mention delicious and light. The room although small, was big enough and had plenty of closet space for our things. It had a beautiful colored glass chandelier from Murano and was quaint in design and style. The best part was the hospitality of the entire staff that made us feel so welcome. Grazie per tutti!! They even gave us a surprise bottle of sparkling wine in honor of our anniversary!! :)

Beautiful, affordable and convenient. Italian decor (including Murano glass chandeliers in the rooms), comfortable beds and clean updated bathrooms. Owner works the front desk and takes good care of his guests (he clearly loves his job). Would recommend to family and friends (and would go back again next time in Venice).

Was very surprised at just how good this hotel was for the price. It was so hot during our stay but the air conditioning was terrific. The room was well decorated and very clean, and whilst it was one of the smaller rooms that did not look over the canal, we found it quite adequate for us. The location was terrific, just a short walk from the train station and also with a vaporetto stop a hundred yards or so down the canal. We felt that this was a better position than the Grand Canal as it was not overrun with tourists and we enjoyed sharing the ambience of everyday living with the locals, particularly the happy hour at the cafe on the opposite side of the canal where people would sit and enjoy a drink before heading home. Also have to mention the owner Paolo who was very helpful and obliging

Lovely hotel with very hospitable owner and staff. We were in a good quality immaculately clean standard room for 3 days, but when they were told that we were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary whilst staying with them they upgraded us to a lovely suite for our last night - wonderful! If you get up early enough for breakfast between 8 and 9am you can have a table on the canalside in the shade which at this time of the year is lovely before it gets too hot and is in the direct sun. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and would stay again if we come back to Venice.

Venice is known for very expensive sometimes musty hotels. Not so with this hotel. It is affordable, with nicely decorated rooms, interesting glass chandeliers, Italian decor, Venician style floors, comfortable beds and clean updated bathrooms. The hotel also has workable shutters, which add to the charm of the rooms. The owner is engaging and appears genuinely interested in hosting guests. He is helpful in advising as to site transportation within Venice. There may be language-communication issues with the other front desk staff. Overall, efforts are made to accommodate guests. The hotel offers options as to where you may wish to eat breakfast, whether on the waterfront in front of the hotel, inside - in the breakfast area, or upstairs. The hotel has a top floor balcony porch area which overlooks the canal in front. This is not your standard European 3-star hotel. The hotel is not too far from the S. Lucia railway station, it is a walkable 7-10 minutes with rolling luggage.
