Great hotel

Review of Palazzo Guardi
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Apr 2024via mobile
Myself and husband stayed here for 2 night 14th to 16th April. We loved Venice and loved this location. Great time of year to visit, we were lucky with the weather, it was beautiful.

Within walking distance to all the main attractions and also near 2 water bus stops. Lovely street with bars and resultants. We loved the Giudecca canal area around the corner for food and drinks and watching the sun going down.

The hotel itself, we were happy with the breakfast (cooked and continental selection) and complimentary drinks in room (beer, coke, water) , coffee machine and toiletries (shower gel, soap, shower cap, slippers).

Thanks for a great stay

Hard to locate. We were in the annex, which is a little walk away. No one there to ask about our trip as there normally is in hotels , you had to go back to the main hotel. Very dingy and dated overall !
Breakfast was the worst I have had abroad. Scrambled egg tasted terrible and the coffee was yuk!
On the plus side the rooms were clean and comfortable and we appreciated the fridge full of free drinks.

Really enjoyed this bed and breakfast. Individually styled and extremely well located. It was a 2 minute walk to the Ponte Academia (amazing for sunset and views of grand canal) and 15 min walk to St Marks, and a further 10 mins to Rialto bridge. Airport bus service is 15 mins walk.

Highly recommend

This was our second time at Palazzo Guardi and we love the real working canal view with the delivery boats and watching foot traffic. We spent pleasant time watching activities out the window. The room is beautifully historic. We were happy to find bacon and eggs at breakfast with many other options including brewed coffee along with hand crafted cappuccinos. It was wonderful to find the towel warmer worked!!! But it did leak. Two luggage cradles would be nicer than just the one provided. There were enough electrical outlets. We hope to return.

Room tip: Our room was called Bucintoro and it was a junior suite with a canal view.

Visited for one night's B&B. Very close to the ferry stop at Zattare where we took the ferry from Fusina on the mainland. Slightly difficult to find as you have to go along the canal side and then turn right along a narrow road. Look out for other people with suitcases - good indication. The lift to the third floor and reception is slow but fortunately there is a lift. Preferible if one of you pushes the lift button as, in our case, other half read the wrong button. Reception gentleman D. most helpful especially at a busy check-in time. He also helped us out with a bottle opener which one us had left behind, and offered proper wine glasses although we had brought plastic wine glasses. "Tastes better" and he was correct. The reception covers two locations, here and another back along by the canal some 100 meters or so. We had the attic room with private terrace which was excellent, so much so we've booked again for next year as we live in next Region and are returning for a short cruise from the nearby cruise terminal at San Basilio. Room peaceful and spacious, terrace lovely, bed very comfortable and the proper curtains ensure darkness and no light disturbance. Bathroom very nice with spa bath. Easy entry and exit from same, unlike another bath we have used in another Veneziano hotel, so well done to the management for their attention to all the fittings. Complimentary proper fridge/mini bar with bottled waters, beers, soft drinks and good fruit juice. Proper sized tv of good quality should you wish to follow 'Amadeus'. Breakfast was tasty, we had good scrambled eggs, toast and proper crispy bacon. All the usual choices of ham, cheese, croissants, yogurts, juices etc are available. Breakfast service lady very helpful and courteous bringing us our choice of coffee. The rooms off the dining hall could be problematic for guests who don't wish to be disturbed with the breakfast service. The lady V. proprietor in the morning was most helpful in the morning especially as there was a lot going on with breakfasts and departures. The baggage storage was most helpful as we had places to go, and lunch, before travelling home to Fusina and our next door Region. Definitely recommend this establishment, especially the spacious attic suite with private terrace, and looking forward to our return next year.

Room tip: Book the attic suite and travel light. This room is in the same 'palazzo' as the reception and the breakfast, dining area.

I could not find this hotel as I arrived at night. There is not a hotel entrance but an apartment Building door. The lift is the tiniest and slower I’ve ever used.
The room I stayed was on the first floor towards an alley where a club is located. On Saturday early hours it was quite noisy.
Staff was very polite. Breakfast was decent. Spotless bathroom. A fantastic location near restaurants, boutiques, the Beaux Art museum and not far from St Marco!
