We have just returned from two nights in Venice, which was a surprise birthday gift from our children. We stayed at the Duodo Palace which was centrally located with very friendly, helpful staff, especially Michael. The room was small but ok for two nights. The pillows though were like bricks! Our daughter e.mailed to say that it was a special birthday for me but this was ignored.

Room Tip: Check the shower out!

First trip to venice, great place. We arrived by water taxi, expensive but lovely a trip. Our room was top floor, we had view of roof line which was fine. Upon arrival our room was 28 degrees very hot, too hot. We advised reception they said they would turn heating off. We went out to explore came back and room still too hot, Advised reception they said it would take some time to cool down. Went out for dinner we got back about 9pm and room still hot, we opened window and in came the mozzies, needless to say a very uncomfortable night. We advised reception the next day they said they would turn heating off. Came back at 10 pm room still 28 degrees i went and saw reception they came upstairs to look and ended up giving us another room so at 10pm we had to shift. We went to Murano glass island compliments of Duodo Palace, glass display great but then came hard sell we said no asked how we could get back to main island they pointed outside and said to ask someone out there so they were not helpful.. Apart from that Venice is an amazing Place!!!

Room Tip: Check room make sure not too hot especially if you are there in summer months

Dear Guest, the heating/collking system in the room is controlled by our Reception Staff through a computer; the dispolay in the room shows the inside temperature but, if you strongly push several time the panel trying to change the remperature, you distroy the panel and the staff can't control it from the reception... That's what's happened! The cost of a new panel is 300 Euros...
Concerning the "Murano hard sell" I think the feeling with the seller is depending of you... Please read "Fantastic Visit".
Thanks anyway for your review and for the nice comment about the city!
Kind regards.

This was our second visit to Venice - and our first stay at the Duodo Palace Hotel. We stayed for 4 nights - and wished it was longer! Excellent hotel. We had a lovely (standard) room on the first floor. The breakfast was excellent. A very good cold buffet with cooked food if you wanted it (additional charge). Very helpful staff. We decided to arrive by water taxi - and were glad that we did. We took the free water taxi to Murano. Despite some postings, there was no real pressure to buy at any of the glass factories. The location of the hotel is excellent - yes it could be a little difficult to find (but many places in Venice are like that!). All in all we had no complains whatsoever. We had read very positive reviews of the hotel and would have no hesitation at all in recommending it . A Fantastic Visit!

We have recently returned from Venice. This was our first trip and we weren't disappointed. We were only here for 2 days but may be 3 might have been a bit better. It was the beginning of April and the weather was warm. We stayed at the Duodo Palace Hotel, which we was a lovely hotel. We the breakfast was lovely and the rooms were very suptuous, The staff were always curteous and polite. Our only small quibble would be there was not complimentary tray in the room for tea/coffee etc. We had our own kettle and stuff as we took a flask of coffee with us on our walks to save having to always find a cafe we would stop at any of the endless amazing views. The hotel was very central too. Would highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The "entrance" to this hotel is on one of the canals. There is a "dry" entrace...
