It's only a few blocks from the San Marco water taxi stop and we could walk with our heavy luggage. The hotel is well marked and easy to find, even though down a small alley. The location is great! All major sights within walking distance, but Venice does seem to require a lot of walking! The staff is fantastic - very welcoming and very helpful. Not only did they recommend restaurants nearby, but they called to reserve us a table. The room we had was quite large and comfortable. Although the hotel is old like all of Venice, it's well maintained and clean. Bathrooms were relatively modern. Breakfast was OK - the warm bread was the highlight. They offered a local guide to give a walking tour in English. Best part of our Venice visit. It was only 25 Euro each and the 4 hour tour turned into 6 including a friendly lunch, fantastic visit to a glass factory in Murano accompanied by a very fascinating glass blowing and shaping demonstration. The guide was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot of very interesting history of the area. The tour did not include St Mark's Square. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Hotel Flora without hesitation.

The important stuff first - great wifi, comfortable beds, showers with good pressure. 'rich' is a good word to describe their breakfast spread! Panacotta for breakfast, why not!
The hotel is really well located in San Marco, close to many awe inspiring cathedrals and to public transport. Despite being close to the tourist epicentre of Venice, it is quite and once those shutters are drawn it's an oasis of peace in the room. Crisp linen, antique furniture and exquisite view from our room on the third floor.
The staff were excellent - God bless you Giovanni - you're a marvel!
We travelled with children (7&3) and despite them needing to tear around occasionally the staff were incredibly accommodating and understanding of the peculiar needs of parenting travelling with little kids. Such as fixing us an early pasta dinner at 6 pm even though the kitchen didn't open til 7pm.
We would like to return again and again and hope our boys bring their families here when they're adults.
Could write so much more about the original paintings on the underside of the staircases however I'll sign off with...
Loved it.

Hotel Flora is a little oasis of a hotel tucked away in a hard to find alley in San Marco. Once found the Hotel's staff went to great lengths to make our stay enjoyable. Front desk staff were very good in recommending local attractions like Murano and Burano as well as the Vivaldi recital in a deconsecrated church. Rooms were clean and comfortable, good showers (a little small but that was the case in most Italian Hotels). Breakfast was fresh and lots of it and the staff in the Hotel's small bar looked after us even when we were the only customers. If ever in Venice again would stay there.

Room Tip: Get a courtyard room.

The staff is great- very friendly, caring, and helpful. The hotel is small, and the rooms are all different. We were shown a 1st floor room, but we asked to change to a different room. The room had a terrible odor. We were shown a 3rd floor room which was quite nice- timbers, balcony, twin beds, quiet. The bathroom was very small- especially the shower. There was a computer right outside the door which we did use. The location is great- right near the main square with shopping and restaurants. It is quite a walk from the Alilaguna boat from the dock to the hotel- especially with luggage. The breakfast is really good; lots of foods to choose. Be sure to try the hot chocolate. Delicious! The courtyard and the plants are really quite pretty.

Room Tip: The quieter floors are the upper floors. Heat was needed at night, but there was no heat. We were cold without the heat.
