We stayed for 3 nights in January for a birthday weekend trip to Venice. The hotel is located 2 minutes walk from the vaparretto stop Arsenale. It takes 1 hour 10 minutes direct from the airport and is the most civilised and relaxing airport transfer ever. We arrived late afternoon and saw the most spectacular sunset as we sailed round Murano, the Lido and Venice to arrive almost at the door. San Marco is a picturesque 10 minute walk away.
The hotel is small and perfect for shorter stays. Staff are wonderful, incredibly helpful and welcoming. The room was immaculate (room 302 with gob smacking views across the lagoon front to the Doge's Palace and San Marco). Double bed, table, chair. Good wardrobe space with safe. Even a mini bar for a nightcap or emergency bottle of water. Bathroom is very well appointed with toiletries and plenty of towels. Everything was spotlessly clean and decor is in the style of a panelled dark wood historic boat (Bucintoro/Bucentaur was the state barge used by Doges of Venice past). Bed was very comfy.
Breakfast was classic continental with a few hot options that can be ordered for a charge. But you just need to fuel up so you're ready to wander around the local neighbourhood and further afield.
You'll find plenty of amazing Osterias in the back street where you can pick up delicious bacari snacks (Venetian tapas) and a glass of Spritz (try the local favourite Select rather than Aperol, slightly more sour but really refreshing). We also visited the Doges Palace, Peggy Guggenheim, Jewish Ghetto, Basilica San Marco, Murano, Burano, Cannareggio and Castello neigbourhoods, Fondazione Querini Stampalia. All bloomin' amazing. Honestly, Venice is jaw droppingly beautiful/amazing/interesting. It's hard to have a dud trip. Would recommend going out of season: I suspect the crowds and smells in hot weather can be overwhelming.
Would happily book this hotel again. Perfect for our long weekend. Thank you!
