We spent a long time looking at many different hotel is various locations in Venice, finally picking The Bucintoro, we were not disappointed. The manager Giuliano, had arranged a private water taxi from the airport to the hotel(110euro). This was a expense worth paying, it was perfect way to arrive. The taxi drops you right outside the hotel. The check in was smooth and quick. Our suite had a excellent view(see photos), The location was on the water front just away from the crowds and noise.

The walk to St Marks Sq was about 15mins along the water front. We spoke to the hotel frontdesk and they were able to offer various trips, we selected a triple booking of St Marks sq, Basilica and gondola. They booked this for us, very helpful of them.

The Hotel manager Giuliano, offered a complementary private trip to Murano glass factory which was interesting. The return is with other people. I would recommend getting a ALILAGUNA waterbus ticket for 24hr,48hr etc. they run 24hs a day, a great way to get along the grand canal and it saves on the walking.

2 eateries we can recommend near the hotel are 1- MELOGRANO BAR, out of hotel, turn left, over 1 canal, a further 100 yds on water front.(if you need ATM, next to Bar)
2- RESTAURANTE SAN GIORGIO, out of hotel, turn left, over 1 canal, 2nd restaurant.

Excellent hotel, good location, friendly professional staff.
Only 2 small negative,1st- the breakfast was continental(common in Italy), you could get fresh cooked eggs any way, but there was a charge for these, not expected in a 4 star hotel. 2nd there was spiders webs around the tops of the curtains, need to be brushed down regularly.
This were very small observations and did not bother us. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: corner junior suite deluxe 3rd floor, was bright, double aspect and fantastic views.

Hotel Bucintoro is 5 star masquerading as only 4 star!

The quality and attention to detail of the design, build and maintenance of the hotel is extraordinary, with each room simulating a ship's cabin. Situated in the Castello district, near the Arsenal, (a quieter area of the waterfront), all rooms offer an excellent view of St Mark's Basin.

We stayed in a Classic room (402) on the 4th floor at the top of the hotel for 5 nights from 5th September. Whilst modestly sized, every inch of usable space is innovately and practically utilised. The room was immaculately cleaned and prepared daily and the overall standard of service was exemplary, with hotel personnel being exceptionally helpful and an invaluable source of information.

We will not now stay anywhere else during our return visits to Venice.

Perfectly positioned, 10 minutes walk from St Marks Square but 2 bridges away from the madness of Venice's tourist crowds. There seems to be an invisible boundary to which the majority of the tourists are unable to breach..... And this for starters is why this hotel appeals to me. Add the beautiful wood panelled rooms with stunning views over the lagoon. Staff that could not be more charming, happy, polite, helpful and professional...... Especially the breakfast waitress....... And you have, in my opinion..... The perfect place to stay for business or for a romantic get away.
Cannot fault this hotel in any way !

Everything I hoped it would be and more. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful! The two front desk men were wonderful and super kind! Our room was on the 3rd floor (4th if your from the U.S. as the bottom floor in Europe does not count a a 'floor') and had magnificent views! The bath was the nicest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel! Our room was air conditioned, had a safe, a stocked refrigerator(charge if you drink anything out of it) television, robes, slippers, & wifi. Location is great in Costello! European breakfast included. I would like to share some simple yet smart tips....where to get cheap bottles of water! When you step out of the hotel go left over the bridge, the first street you come to take it left, walk down to the first canal you see, there is a bakery to your left with big 1 liter bottles of water for 1 euro! Buy several!!! Much better deal than the small bottles in the tourist area for 3 euros! For the best pizza bruschetta, Again when you step out of the hotel go left two businesses down before the bridge, the best pizza and service ever! Pizza and soda 10 euros, pizza and beer 14 euros! We loved it so we went back for lunch the next day! Much better than the ridiculously overpriced restaurant in the opposite direction! Although the pizza place did not charge us a fee to sit and eat in addition to our food charge beware that most restaurants in Venice do. At the first place we ate it was 4 euros per person, just to sit. Anyhow live, love, Venice! Stay at Hotel Bucintoro as you will have no regrets! Chow-chow!

This hotel was really lovely and in a great position-the Piazza was only a ten minute stroll away. The staff were very helpful;nothing was too much trouble. We paid a little more for a lagoon view-well worth the extra because the views were just amazing! The staff recommended turning left out of the hotel and going down Via Garabaldi to look for restaurants as that area was a little cheaper than other areas in Venice-a very good tip as there were plenty of reasonable places. The room was smallish but very well looked after. Would definitely go there again.
